ELIZABETH (BESS) FELICE MAURINE
independent, seductive, cat-like
independent, seductive, cat-like
BACK TO BASICS ' '
Full Name: Elizabeth (Bess) Felicia Maurinne
Significance of Name: Elizabeth may not sound like Bast, but one of nicknames for Elizabeth is Bess. And Bess sounds close to Bast. Felicia has two meanings which lead both to cat. Felis Catus is the Latin word for cat and Feline is, well, a cat. Maurinne is from Mau or Miu, a famous Egyptian type of cat.
Nickname(s): Just Bess please
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual
Grade: 12
Celeb you're using: Zoe Saldana
Deity: Bast - Egyptian
Title of your deity: Egyptian Goddess of Cats
STRIKE A POSE ' '
Physical Appearance:
Bess is just another average girl with quite a beautiful face. She may not the tallest girl at school, as she's standing about 5'9" with quite slender body and she just gets a nice cleavage. What makes her look beautiful is not from her whole facial features and body structure, like people would have assumed. Her eyes are probably what people find the most attractive about her. They are hazel, which somehow they look as if they glow (this is one of the parts of having a 'cat shapeshifting' power). Especially, in the dark, Bess' eyes will really glow. If you notice closely, you'll see that the pupil in her eye is slightly different than human's. It's thin, oval, and sharp, just like a cat. But don't worry, that's the only cat-ish physical appearance Bess has. Other than that, she doesn't have fangs and looks just like a normal human.
Bess is fashionable and she enjoys wearing mini outfits, something like tank tops, tube tops. But since it's prohibited to wear those kind of stuffs to classes, she will usually wear something a bit more closed, like skinny jeans or pants and a simple tank top. Also, her personal possession includes a gold necklace that looks just like an amulet and she also has a bracelet that looks like a it's made of cat's claws.(Bast). She likes wearing latex and leather as well.
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description:
This personality description will describe Bess' normal behavior as a human, not as a cat.
THAT COLD LOOK
When you first look at Elizabeth, or preferably called Bess, she'll give you a cold stare. Don't worry, it doesn't mean that she hates you. Bess is, at first impression, considerably cold and stiff. She will probably frown at anyone at the first time. But that doesn't mean she's all a cold person and dislikes having friends. Her giving people cold stare indicated that she was aware of her surrounding, in fact, she's very aware. Her cat sense is strong that she can sense the situation around her. And since Pantheon is a bit strange for her (she moves there two years ago and Pantheon is still a strange place for her, since she's lived in Egypt for most of her life). This is, apparently, affected by her catlike personality (Cats usually have strong sense on their surroundings and whenever they turn around at the presence of someone else, they will tend to frown or give them a cold stare). Aside from the catlike personality effect, this is also an effect because in New York, she was often called a freak, making her quite an anti social. But being in Pantheon pleases her than being in other places she's been. She's much more accepted there and no one calls her freak. Yet it's not really difficult to get to know more about Bess. Maybe it will take quite a while since Bess is pretty much easy to get suspicious at anyone.
MOTHERLY AND PROTECTIVE
But if you've known her better, you will figure out that Bess is actually a warm and protective person, especially towards those who's younger than her. Maybe this is one of the personality Bast (the goddess of cat) inherits her, since Bast doesn't only protect cats but apparently she represents a mother figure as well. Bess loves talking to anyone ranges from the age of 5 to people older than her. Although sometimes she finds herself having trouble in understanding the topic, all she wants to do is make people close to her comfortable when she's around and she loves to please everyone. Her warmth towards people around her also symbolizes that Bast is a goddess with positive force. While Sekhmet, in the other side represents the negative force.
BEWARE OF THE SEDUCTIVE GIRL
As Bast being the goddess of sensual pleasure, Bess also finds boys really attractive and in the other side, boys also find the senior really attractive as well. Bess has something that attracts boys, which are possibly her bright, glowing eyes. She is a bisexual though (this is implied in a source that Bast is a sexual partner to every god and goddess, and also her association to lesbians). Bess considers herself as a quite naughty girl. When it comes to boys passing her, she tends to keep her eye contact with his, showing the attraction of her bright eyes and let out a small purr. But of course, since Bess is still in grade 12, she hasn't lost her virginity yet. Maybe Bess has slept with some boys but she commits that she doesn't want to lose her virginity before marriage. For her, virginity is still important, despite the fact that she's seductive.
LET'S THROW A PARTY
Bess is probably not cheerful enough to join a party. She's not like one of the girls who would scream "Let's throw a party! Whoo!". Still she remains calm and mysterious in this case, but despite of her calmness and coolness, party is definitely one of her Bess' favorite things. Not only parties but she enjoys going to nightclubs and have something to drink. She drinks light things though, something like soda, milk, and other milk-like drinks. Bess also enjoys dancing and singing, as this symbolizes how the goddess Bast is celebrated by dancing and singing in a Mardi Gras-like carnival. The senior might not be really good in dancing and singing. Her voice wasn't even good, but at least she enjoyed it.
Last but not least, Bess considers herself as pretty a perfectionist.

Likely any other girls at her age, she just wants a bright future and makes her parents proud.
Power/Ability: Animal Morphing
Ability to take on animal forms. May be able to take on the abilities of the altered form
Bess has the ability of animal morphing, which allows her to shapeshift into an Egyptian Mau cat. She's also able to have some cat traits and abilities when she's a human, for example: liking fish, good reflexes and senses, hates dogs, and water. She also has the ability to feel what cats feel (some sort of animal empathy) and communicates with them.
WELCOME TO MY LIFE ' '
Origin: Cairo, Egypt
History:
The girl we're about to talk about comes from a unique family you might have never imagined. It all began when Edgar Maurinne, an American archaeologist met Akila Masri, a sweet loving Egyptian young woman in 1991. Edgar first met her in the desert while he was doing a research on an Egyptian artifact, when he finally came across the sight of Akila. She apparently worked there as a local guide to other fellow archaeologists and Edgar was instantly smitten. They started having relationship since then and at first, Edgar thought everything would be going alright, since he didn't have to leave Egypt. He'd lived there for years since he began his first training as an archaeologist fresh from the college. It was in 1978. After finding himself comfortable with Egyptian environment, the people, and especially finding his love, he later got married with Akila and moved into a small house at the downtown of Cairo, where shortly after the wedding, Akila gave birth to Elizabeth Feline Maurinne. Apparently, Akila was fond of cats and she once suggested the name of the baby would be after Bast, the goddess of cats, but Edgar suggested that the baby shouldn't be named directly after the name of a god. Therefore, he named her Elizabeth with Bess as a nickname, which sounded slightly similar with Bast.
But things weren't exactly as smooth as they thought it would be. Edgar was then promoted to work as a professor in New York, which requires him and the entire family to move there. Akila resisted to move, however, because of her love to Egypt that she didn't want to leave her hometown. You might think Edgar and Akila would end up in a fight, likely other couples when it came to a decision like this. But instead, Akila asked Edgar to bring along Bess to New York so she would grow up there. "It is not a good bye." Akila said to Edgar just before he left to New York, implying that someday they would meet. Bess was just a few months old, but she indeed still recalled the image of her mother. Akila also gave Bess two kittens which would be Bess' companions in New York. Inheriting her mother's trait, Bess soon found herself fond of cats years later. Akila also left a ruby red amulet with Bess to remind Bess of her.
After working as a professor in a New York institution, Edgar purchased a townhouse in Upper East Side where Bess grew up. Likely other kids at her age, Bess was enrolled in a private school and apparently she seemed to have enjoyed the advantage of being a professor's daughter. First, she was considerably rich and second, she was adored at school by teachers, just because she was a daughter of a professor. Bess was also considerably smart though, but Bess considered herself to be quite a strange girl. Not that only she acted unlike the other socialite's children, but there was something even more bizarre. It all started when she was seven when she began to feel she was utterly different. Bess became much closer with her cats and even she suddenly just had a strange bond with them, like she could communicate with them through body language and feeling. But since she didn't want to be called a 'cat freak', Bess just kept this a secret. Even her friends didn't know how many cats she'd kept at her home (the kittens had finally given birth to other kittens and multiplied through the years). Even more, Bess' reflexes and senses seemed to have increased rapidly. But apparently no one really noticed about this.
But the whole shapeshifting stuff occurred to her a year after figuring out some new abilities in her. As usual, her bond with her cats seemed to have deepened and Edgar started to notice some strange things occuring to his daughter. He realized that how deep she had been engaged in a bond with the cats, assuming she might indeed inherit some of her mother's traits, which was loving the cats. One night, at the attic, Bess - as usual - "talked" with her cat friends and it looked like to her the cats just talked to her, maybe through their language, and strangely Bess seemed to understand it. That was when, for the first time ever, Bess felt even more cat-ish than before She realized that her body started to shift, her pupils narrowed into what looked like a cat's. She felt her skin slowly changed into soft fur and the next thing she realized, she had four legs, pointy ears, whiskers, and the size of her body shrunk. Before she realized, she could no longer speak human language but just mews that were spoken out of her tiny mouth. Would you be surprised to discover that your body had shrunk and shifted into a cat's body, with full cat's appearance? Same thing happened to Bess. The moment she changed into an Egyptian Mau cat (she took a look at the mirror in the attic), she spontaneously freaked out but instead her shapeshift just attracted the other cats to approach her and give her a strange look, a look that was given by students when they first saw a new student entering a classroom.
The only thing that passed in Bess' mind was how she could change back into human. She spent all night long thinking about it and finally, she changed back into her normal appearance. Apparently she needed more practice in this. Shapeshifting into cats and then changing back to human appearance did seem to bother her, for sometimes it could occur unintentionally. For example, in the school's restroom, she saw a cat entering it through a ventillation and then just "talked" to Bess. Without realizing how deep the conversation had flown, Bess just changed into a cat, which luckily happened without anyone's presence. However, her friends seemed to realize how long Bess had spent her time in the restroom and decided to look for her there, but they found nothing but two cats chatting under the sink. At first, they freaked out to find how cats could get into the restroom but what caught their attention was where Bess was. She was assumed to be missing that day without her friends realizing that the cat they just encountered in the restroom was no other than their friend.
At first, Bess hated the fact that she could shapeshift into a cat, but she realized it was something she should live with. At least she could still be like other girls at her age, without even bothering to think she was different than them. Apparently Edgar seemed to notice this but he wasn't a bit surprised. He knew this would happen and even from the day he separated with Akila, he could feel something was indeed different with Bess. Instead, Bess was surprised to learn her father had apparently discovered what she'd been up to but relieved that he didn't freak out. At the same time as Bess and Edgar discovered about this new shapeshifting ability, a letter was sent to the townhouse, inviting Bess to enroll in a secret institution in Olympic Peninsula, Washington State, implying that with her distinctive ability, Bess couldn't be with other normal students. At first, Bess objected to go for she found it comfortable to live in New York City, but Edgar ensured her that she would meet her new friends in the new school and that her new friends would be just like her.
Finally, at the age of 14, Bess was sent to Pantheon Academy where she would freely develop her power and ability, without any presence of normal humans. She realized she could do it because, after all, she was gifted.
