CALANDRA REJSTE MORTEN

BACK TO BASICS ' '
Full Name: Calandra Rejste Morten
Significance of Name:
Calandra- Greek Origin. Meaning: Beautiful Youth;Handsome.
I chose Calandra for the meaning, as Aphrodite is the goddess of Beauty and Eternal Youth, along with her better known title as the Goddess of love.
Rejste- Danish. Translates to: Rose.
I chose Rejste because it is said that when Aphrodite’s lover, Adonis, was dying, he cried out her name and she ran to his side, cutting her feet on the roses she ran upon, staining them red with her blood.
Morten- Danish. Meaning: From the God Mars.
I chose Morten, kind of as a twisted joke, seeing as how Aphrodite and Ares(the greek version of the Roman Mars) had an affair.

STRIKE A POSE ' '
Physical Appearance: Calandra is short in stature, a mere 5’3”. In her defense, it’s average height…for a 12 year old. Just don’t point that out and you just might get along with her. Of course, being that she's a girl, she has the option to wear heels, which she does...a lot. A girl has the right to look her best, and Callie does love looking her best.
Callie has blonde hair that comes to a stop right past her shoulders. She loves brushing it out to make sure it’s silky soft, but a lot of times has her hair in some kind of up-do. If it’s not, it hangs in her face and she gets aggravated by it. She’s experimented with different cuts and even different colors, but her hair always returns to her golden blonde.
She has blue eyes which, in her family, isn’t really surprising. Both of her parents have the same color, though her mother’s are lighter and her dad’s are a fair shade darker. She doesn’t bother with contacts of any sort, unless it’s for a costume or whatnot. She loves the way she looks, and doesn’t really feel the need to change it.
Callie’s more apt to be wearing a pair of jeans than she is to be wearing a pair of shorts, but she’s really into cute skirts. She’s great with fashion, somehow managing to make even some of the oddest combinations work. She loves to try new things when it comes to fashion, and she’ll try most thing at least once. Don’t be surprised if there’s breaks between skirts though. She knows she’s pretty, and sometimes having people look at her a lot kind of freaks her out. She can be pretty vain, but she’d much rather be noticed for something other then her choice of skirts.
Callie loves to accessorize, sometimes overly so, and it’s generally what takes her the longest when she’s going about getting dressed. Her earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, whatever she decides she wants for that day, are gone through and she’s gotta figure out what goes best with her outfit and then decide what hand to wear it on and what not. Accessories are a girls’ best friend, and Callie’s not going to forget it.
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description: Calandra is a flirt. It's really that simple. She loves boys. Loves to talk to them, loves to flirt with them, loves them even more if they flirt back. It's not usual for her to find a boy that she doesn't like, though it has happened once or twice. She sincerely despises people that didn't or don't work for what they have in life, as she's from a family that's had to work for everything they've ever had.
While a flirt, one thing that's important to note about Callie is the fact that she will not sleep with a guy who's in a relationship with a girl. It's not her style. She's had guys cheat on her before -though she really couldn't say why- and she knows how it feels. It's not a nice feeling, and she really doesn't want to be THAT girl. You know what girl I'm talking about. "the one that ruined so-and-so's relationship". she can be labeled a lot of things, but 'the-other-woman" isn't one of them.
Calandra isn't exactly the nicest person you could ever meet, but she's not a total cold-hearted bitch. In all honesty, all she wants to do is be herself. If you don't like it, shove it. Because Calandra isn't willing to change herself for anyone. At all. Ever. Okay, and she kind has this thing against girls with really hot boyfriends because, well, she has a thing for really hot guys.
Just a heads up, Callie does have an attitude, and depending on the day, her mood, and the person, just how bad it will be is up in the air. She's not bi-polar or schizo, she's just...really good at holding grudges and giving people a hard time. Like any other teen girl her age, right?
Another thing Callie has, is a temper. And it's yet another thing she knows how to use. She's not just gonna blow up in your face though. She usually doesn't, anyway. You generally have to do something to piss her off, and that's when she explodes. Again though, there are just some people she just instantly dislikes upon meeting them. Right or not, it's called intuition.
Callie absolutely loves to play matchmaker for her friends. Really, she enjoys it. It's become an inside joke for those that are closer to her, and while they joke about it, Callie's sure that they get frustrated with her meddling antics. She just can't seem to help herself when it comes to matchmaking. It's almost instinctual.

Fears: not amounting to anything.
not being able to find a love like her parents have.
Goal: To be all she can be in life. Everyone's destined for greatness, and some people know what that greatness is. Callie is still trying to figure her greatness out.
Power/Ability: Emotion Manipulation - The ability to manipulate another's emotions making the subject feel whatever the user wants. This can include hate, irritation, fear and other things. Though usually the user of their power needs the emotion to be harnessed such as with animals who don't necessarily feel pride but can feel fear. Some individuals are able to sense, enhance, and overwhelm an individual with their own fears.
As the Goddess of Love and Desire, Aphrodite has a lot to do with Emotions. I chose Emotion manipulation over desire manipulation simply because Love isn't just dealing with desire. It's frustration, anger, lust, desire, infatuation, and so many other emotions wrapped into one. Limiting to just Desire means that there's no love, and that's just not the way I figure Aphrodite works.
WELCOME TO MY LIFE ' '
Place of Origin: Denmark
History:
Callie was born unto a Michele and Jackson Morten on January 15. Michele Morten had thought that she wouldn't be able to have kids due to a condition she had as a small child, and so the day that she found she was pregnant with Callie, well, needless to say she was a little more than ecstatic. Okay, so she was a lot more than ecstatic, and so was her husband. And so, Callie was born.
Her parents had been raised in Denmark, both with parents whose who were very close to them. From the time of her first birthday, Callie was surrounded by family. All her birthdays, holidays, and anything else that could be classified as 'family events' always called for a house that was filled to the brim with family, and love. Aunts, uncles, cousins...she had them all. The only thing she's never gotten is a sibling. although, that's probably for the best, as Callie does have more than a few moments when she enjoys being the center of attention. Michele and Jackson did their best to raise thier daughter with good morals, and with a good head on her shoulders, and with a daughter like Callie, they seem to have done a fairly well job.
A side of Callie that her parents never got to see was the side of her while she was in school. Ever the flirt, She tended to flit from one boy to the next, even dating two or three at a time. While in a 'serious' relationship with the quarterback, Callie was having a side relationship with someone that she found to be more her type. He understood that their relationship had to be kept secret, and after a while, Callie fancied herself in love with him, and he, in love with her. Not long after they had confessed this to each other, her love was in a terrible accident. One that cost him his life.
She didn't find out until they day after it happened. His parents called her parents, whom, in turn, called her. She had been in school at the time and, knowing that her parents would only call if it was super important, she risked getting caught by the teachers. Luckilly, she was in the cafeteria, so hiding the fact that she was on the phone wasn't really all that hard. At first, she didn't hear what she was being told. He couldn't be dead, it just wasn't possible. Oh, but it was. He was.
when the news sank in, Callie was devestated, her emotions going absolutely haywire. And that was when her power decided to manifest. With all the emotions feeling as if they were crushing in on her, her power just...exploded. All of a sudden everyone that was in the lunchroom were freaking out. Unfortunately, it only served to freak Callie out even more and she ended up taking off on foot for her home. She had just stepped out of the cafeteria, tears streaming down her face when it seemed like everyone inside the cafeteria calmed down.
It wasn't too long after that the Pantheon Academy found her. They proceeded to explain about her power, what it was, and also why she had the power. You can imagine the stages she went through. Disbelief, wonder, and then finally acceptance. When they offered her the chance to go to school with other people that were like her, she jumped at it. She definitely didn't want to go to school at a place where people probably thought she was a freak. that is, if they had been smart enough to put the pieces together, which she doubted but still. Her thoughts were that it was better not to risk it.
She's been at Pantheon for just a few months, and has just started to get into the swing of things at her new 'home'. She misses her parents terribly, but seems to be extremely moody after she gets off the phone with them. They remind her of her loss, and of what could've been. She hates that she feels that way, but it seems like the more time she's at Pantheon, the less the outside world seems to matter. After all, she's with people who understand at least part of what she's going through. What more could she ask for?

ROLEPLAYING SAMPLE ' '
What was it that made a person feel comfortable? Was it the people? The person's own attitude? The smells? The look of the place? Leo wasn't sure, but comfortable was what he was. Being with Katie, sharing the Kitchen with her as they prepared a meal, it was comfortable, normal even. The calmness with which they went about things while living in the apartment was a new thing to Leo, not that he didn't enjoy it. He just wasn't used to it. He was used to the chaos that with having four other siblings. Yelling in the morning, things getting broken from a random scuffle, constant laughing and joking. Loudness. The quiet was new. Peaceful. Confusing.
There hadn't really been a quiet moment in the Labeau house. Not before the passing of their father, anyways. After wards, well, things had changed. The house was like an empty church. Quiet, and not just a bit creepy. Leo had been half expecting some retard with a chainsaw to come out of one of the rooms and chase him with it. Wouldn't that have been something to tell his friends? "Yeah, some fucktard decided it'd be cool to stage a scary movie and 'pretend' to cut off my arm. Dumb asshole forgot to make sure the chainsaw was fake." That would suck. If he lost his arm, he wouldn't be able to play sports. He wouldn't even be able to hold his little girl, and that was something he was really looking forward to.
In the beginning, like the very beginning, Leo didn't know what to think. He had gotten an underage girl pregnant, because of one night of angry sex. He had never expected to gain a daughter. Or even to gain Katie as an almost permanent fixture in his life. Hell, he had to say almost, he still wasn't sure where she stood. They hadn't really talked, but Leo knew the time was coming, and soon. And he had a lot to say. Maybe. If he could convince himself to say what he wanted to...It would help, of course, if he knew what he wanted to tell her. That was almost fundamental knowledge when it came to talking about serious stuff, and while Leo wasn't sure exactly what he was going to say, he had a really good feeling that it was going to be just about as serious as it gets.
"I have no idea where you come up with half the things you say, Leo." Leo blinked, brought back to reality by the voice of the girl who currently occupied his thoughts. "What? Oh, the cousin of the pancake thing. Right. I'm not sure I know where I got that from either. I just figured I'd try not to say..." He paused for a second, eyeing her. "I figured I'd try not to say Waffle, since you don't seem to like it, or the food itself, very much." He was just being thoughtful, really. She seemed to groan or roll her eyes anytime he said the W word, and even though he loved the things, he could be considerate. They were, after all, living together.
“That’d be the tomato sauce. But ‘that red sauce that tastes amazing on the noodles’ will suffice. Well, you can either start cooking the stuff for the sauce or cut the mushrooms. Honestly, I think you’d be better of cutting mushrooms.”
Leo looked at the knife and the cutting board that she had placed on the counter for a moment before moving towards them. "Um..." he began. "Is there a certain way I should cut them? Chunks, pieces, slices?" He knew very little about cooking, but what he did know was that sometimes, the way you cut something was important. Like a pizza. If you cut it weird, the pieces you got were oddly shaped and therefore, not really pizza-like. A pizza was just not a pizza if it wasn't in a circular shape, that was eight or more triangular slices put together to form said circle. It was just not pizza if it was cut any other way, he didn't care who had cut it, whether it be the delivery service or one of his siblings. And he knew pizza. After working for almost three years at a pizza shop, he out to know his pizza.
“Why’d Jaiden call?” Leo looked up from the mushrooms that were in front of him. He still hadn't made a move to cut them yet, he'd just been staring at them like they were something from another planet or something. Katie had moved closer and for a second, it threw him off. He had to reprocess what she'd asked, and then had to think back to remember why Jai had called him. "She'd found another box of my trophies hidden in one of the rooms. Figured I'd want them. I ended up visiting with her for a while, asking about the others. Apparently...they're recovering. Slower than I am, but at least they're getting there. I hate seeing them like that. Sad. It's not...normal." He was quiet for a moment while he picked up one of the mushrooms and placed it on the cutting board. With a hesitant hand, he made his first cut into it, and then made the next more confidently, and so on. "So what'd you do while I was gone? Watch tv? Homework? Just chill?" he asked her, pausing in his cutting to give her a smile.
