STRIKE A POSE ' '
Physical Appearance: The first thing anyone and everyone notices about Jeff is that he is disabled. One of his legs is small, slightly shrivelled, and badly burned to a point where it is almost unrecognisable as a human leg. It does not function in any way, and so Jeff spends most of his time in a wheelchair. For short times, he is able to function without a wheelchair, but for getting around campus and such he does require his wheelchair. Despite his hopes of one day forging a mechanical leg for himself, he has so far been unable to, and so makes his way around in a rather 'pimp'd out' wheelchair, which we will delve into the finer subtleties of later on.
However, once you get past the whole disability thing, Jeff is rather attractive. He has a good few scars over his body which might be described as ugly, but these are mainly in places where they can't be seen generally, like on his back, his upper legs and buttocks. He's got short, cropped brown hair which is rather soft naturally, but which he doesn't take too much care of. Jeff doesn't care much for his own appearance in fact, and would rather spend time working than grooming himself.
His eyes are a deep amber colour, often flashing like the forges which he works, and appearing very dangerous, impulsive and powerful in the way they glance at people. Jeff has that sort of air about him. You can tell he's a god, and not just a god but an Olympian of fire and metal. He's got quite pale skin, though he's burned in many places from his work and cut to, giving him certain patches of darkness on his skin. His dress sense leaves a certain amount to be desired, as his clothing often is covered in splashes of paint or ripped and torn in places from his work. He doesn't often buy new clothes, and doesn't really care about them either, as long as he can work in them.
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description: Jeff concentrates on his work rather than relationships with friends and family. He had a hard time connecting with people as a kid, and so nowadays he prefers to shut himself away from people for long periods at a time, concentrating on his work and making things. it's not that he's shy, or unsociable, because he can be very outgoing at times, but rather he thinks that his work is more important, and if he has a choice between finishing up some work or seeing a friend he sees a lot, then he'll go for the work every time. Don't get me wrong though, he's a very enjoyable person to be around once you get to know him, so don't worry.
Jeff absolutely hates beyond anything when people tease him. He'll hold grudges for a long time, so if you're mean to him, you had better watch out. It might take a while for him to get you back, but if you've humiliated him then one day you're going to get your just deserts one hundred times over.
But seriously, Jeff loves his work, and one way to get at him would be to hinder or destroy something he's made. He would hate that so much. He spends a lot of time on his works, and one thing he does is to make things for the people he likes, gifts of a sort.
Speaking of things Jeff has made, this seems an appropriate time to discuss his wheelchair, a complicated but very exciting affair that he calls 'The Talos'. It has various special features, including an AI system which allows it to respond to Jeff's commands of where to go and all that. It also has a couple of other nifty little features, such as turbo boosters for when he's in a rush and small laser beams which can be used to cut through things and such.
But despite having such an awesome wheelchair, Jeff doesn't like using it when possible. If he's going a short distance, he much prefers to walk, if with a bit of a hobble and a long bronze walking stick, which was one of the first items he fashioned, and doubles as a hammer which he can use in the forges. Still, he resigns to the fact that his wheelchair is necessary to get a lot of places.
There's another aspect to Jeff though - despite him thinking work is more important than relationships, he sometimes gets a bit of a thing for a woman, and then things can get a little... Obsessive, shall we say. He might follow them around a lot, try to talk to them too much. It might even be called stalking. This is rare though, and probably won't even happen, right? (am i right, am i right? i'm not)

Power/Ability: Jeff has the ability to create and forge magical items. While the previous Hephaestus had magical forges, Jeff has no such privilege, but he doesn't let this stop him and he can create and forge all manner of magical items, and very much likes replacing items that the gods once had, a trident for poseidon, lightning bolts for zeus, magic bow and arrow for Eros, all that shizzle. Basically, he can create a whole range of different items with varying power levels.
WELCOME TO MY LIFE ' '
Place of Origin: St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England
History: Geoffrey Vulcan Smith was born in the small roman city of Saint Albans, in the east of england, a little north of london. He grew up as the son of one Regina Smith, a single mother who gave birth to him at the age of twenty, the father disappearing a while before Geoffrey's birth. Jeff's mother named him after her own father, Geoffrey Smith, and took the name Vulcan from a baby name site, using the fact that he was born in a roman town as inspiration to use the name of a roman god.
Jeff spent his first two years rather normally, doing all the things that child might usually do, but even since birth he showed a natural affinity to building things, and his favourite toys were always blocks and bricks of various colours and such, from whence he built all sorts of structures.
However, at the age of two Jeff developed a rare disease, which crippled one of his legs. He spend many weeks in hospital as the doctors tried to figure out what was wrong with the leg, but they couldn't pinpoint it as a specific disease - there was no genetic reason for it, no bacterial nor viral infection, it was as if the leg had simply shrivelled up and blackened of it's own accord. The leg was a little smaller than the other now, and Jeff had little control over it, but it wasn't too annoying - for him anyway.
His mother took it a little worse. She was almost maddened by his disability, and began to harbour a sort of almost hatred for her child, who was causing her so much stress through no fault of his own, a hatred which no mother should have for their child. She began to be careless with him, dropping him on occasion and once even dropping a hot pan onto his disabled leg, supposedly by accident, which did no favours to the now disabled child. He managed to live like this for a good few years before the social services found out and took him away, sending him to live with a few foster parents before he found a pair that were kind to him. well, i say a pair, their was three of them really. Three elderly sisters who had been longing for a child, but they raised Jeff, and raised him well. Under their care, his gift for building things began to grow. It was now that he built his wheelchair, 'The Talos', out of various household odds and ends, finishing it with a strange power he'd found he had developed, allowing him to place magic into the items he made, of sorts.
he lived with them for many years, on the outskirts of saint albans before returning to find his mother alive, and recovered from the madness that had lived inside her the past many years. Still though, jeff was angry. How could she have done this to him? He set in motion a plan. He began to build a chair - but it wasn't like the talos, his own wheelchair, it was a rocking chair. He built it from normal wood, and made it look in every sense generic and ordinary. Then however, he began to weave his power into it, making it so that the one who sat in it would not be able to get up out of the rocking chair (which would rock violently throughout) until they had said the words 'my son is very awesomely awesome in every way and i apologise sincerely for the way i acted towards him in the past' fifty-four times.
He never truly found out how his plan went, for soon after such a powerful exhibit of his skill, the pantheon located him, and he received a hefty letter asking him to attend a school for reincarnated gods, believe it or not. Of course, Jeff was surprised at this, as anyone would be, but then again it made sense. He was Hephaestus, so was this why he was so good at making things, wasn't it? Of course, he accepted immediately, leaving his mother to enjoy her little... surprise.
CONNECTION TO THE MYTH ' '
- Jeff is a very hard worker - Hephaestus was often seen as the strongest and most steadfast of the olympians.
- Both Jeff and Hephaestus have a difficult relationship with their mother due to a disability
- Hephaestus and Jeff are both lame (in the non-colloquial sense)
- Hephaestus ran the forges of the gods, and Jeff makes a lot of things in the forges for the various students.
- he did not have a present father, in the same way that Hephaestus in some myths was the son of Hera alone.
- Hephaestus's mother was the Queen of the Gods, Hera, and Jeff's mother was named regina, which means sort of royalty.
- Hephaestus tricked hera with a magical throne he fashioned. jeff used a magical rocking chair.
