Physical Appearance: Georgia was the blondest of the three sisters born; being almost silver haired as an infant. Even now, her long hair is very fair, with light honey and even some platinum hues running through it. Her hair has never been dead straight like some other girls, but has always had a definite wave to it. Sometimes, it’s even curly depending on the way she dries it. Her hair has always been long because she has never had the courage to have it cut any shorter than a minor trim, fearing that a drastic change would make her look awful. Like her sister, George has incredibly pale skin that never tans in the sun; not that she spends much time in the sun anyway. She has a tendency to burn easily, even if her skin is only exposed to the sun for an hour or so. She also has a small heart shaped face like her sister and is only an inch and a half taller than her, standing at 5’3 ½ .
The sisters also have similar figures; both being very petite. George however has more of a boyish figure than Medomai, as she has a very flat chest, with little to no curves anywhere on her body. She is basically straight up and down, with a small waist, and narrow hips. She is also a little too skinny and people have been known to whisper behind her back about eating disorders, even though she’s never had one. Her eating habits aren’t entirely normal however; she doesn’t care much for food and only eats when she’s hungry. Unlike Medomai, George’s eyes are blue. In fact, they are an eerily pale blue, which are very striking and in a certain light can look almost turquoise. Her eyes are narrow, deep set and are pretty close together which altogether makes her look a little bird like. She also has a short, button nose and fairly bee stung lips, which nearly always stay in one expression. George almost never smiles, though she doesn’t frown either. Her expression is usually just blank, as though she is feeling no emotion whatsoever.
Aside from her hair, George doesn’t really care about her appearance. She almost never wears make-up and doesn’t care about clothes. Her wardrobe mainly consists of several pairs of boyfriend jeans, in varying degrees of shabbyness; grungy t-shirts, plain tank tops, a few sweaters and hoodies and a couple of pairs of pumps, flip-flops and trainers. She hardly ever wears heels or accessories, except for a pair of stud earrings and maybe a belt if her jeans are too loose. She’s all about comfort and really can’t be bothered with designer clothes, even now that she has a bit more money thanks to her adoptive parents. Her foster care upbringing however, means that she never really had the luxury to spend a lot on clothes or to buy something that she would really only wear once or twice and even now, shopping doesn’t hold a great interest for her.
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description: To most people, George can seem…well, a little apathetic. It’s not that she’s unfeeling; it’s just that she doesn’t care. Or, to tell the truth, that she has learnt not to care. Her indifference is based on her painful life experiences. Previously, whenever she cared about anything, it was taken away from her and she has learnt that to avoid being disappointed or hurt, she cannot care about anything. So, because she doesn’t care about things, she doesn’t put much effort into anything: school work, making friends, etc. She just doesn’t see the point. This also makes her a bit of a quitter, because she doesn’t care enough about something, she’ll give up easily. Although, she also gives up easily when she cares about something too much, but this is for a different reason entirely. George is a pessimist, and can be very self-destructive. She always sees or anticipates the worst in a situation, so when she cares about something, she always thinks it’ll end badly so she’ll walk away before it does. She also tends to put herself down a lot, and will sabotage something that she cares a lot about (a relationship, or her own success) because she doesn’t feel good enough or worthy enough to have it.
Because of this, she tends to be a bit of a loner. She’s quiet and introverted and doesn’t go out of her way to make friends. Her power makes her feel very alienated from the world, even at Pantheon where everyone is different. So, she keeps nearly everyone at a distance, and hardly ever talks to people. She stays in her own little world, avoiding contact with everyone. She’s a bit of a daydreamer and whilst she secretly wants to be loved and to love in return, she never lets anyone too close for fear of what might happen. Her power scares the hell out of her, which is the main reason she shuns the company of other people. Most people don’t talk to her anyway. She is very good at staying under the radar, at going unnoticed by others, but if someone does notice and try to talk to her, she’ll usually ignore them until they go away. That way, people tend to think she’s rude and leave her to herself. They very rarely try talking to her again, which is exactly what she wants. Although, she’d much rather be normal. More than anything in the world, George just wants to be a normal girl. She would give anything to get rid of her powers and live a normal life.
George is a girl, completely disillusioned with the world. She’s experienced too much sorrow and loss in her life and has seen the worst of humanity, so is unable to think differently. This occasionally leads to feeling despondent and depressed. In a word, George is miserable; almost all the time. However, she deals with this in her own way. She likes to escape the world she lives in, by reading about another. When she’s immersed in a book, she puts all the imagination she can into it, so it’s as if she’s really there. When she’s reading about a fantasy world, all of her feelings of misery and disillusion evaporate; writing or daydreaming has a similar effect, but reading is the best. The only thing about this is that she doesn’t really deal with her problems, just escapes them for a while. They’re still there once the book is finished. But, that’s just how Georgia is: she’s terrible for avoiding her problems. George can be very easily upset, as she’s rather sensitive. However she’s a very private person and very rarely let’s people see her emotions. She dislikes talking about her feelings, preferring to shut herself off from the world. If someone tries to broach the subject of her feelings, she’ll either make some sarcastic remark or close up and stay silent.
Growing up in New York for most of her life made George very independent and street-wise. She is self-sufficient and doesn’t need help from anyone. She’s very intelligent and quick on the uptake and has the innate ability to see through people a lot easier than most. However, despite her intelligence, she doesn’t do well in school. She likes to sit at the back of the class, not taking notes, or raising her hand and rarely hands her homework in on time. She just doesn’t seem to care. If she put more effort into her school work, he would do very well but she’s just rather lazy. Despite George’s efforts to appear indifferent, she’s actually a very caring person – especially towards her sisters. To those who get past George’s apathetic barrier, she can be a very caring, loving person. She can also be extremely protective of those she cares about and will do anything for them. She’s pretty judgemental however, so she can be quite choosy on whom she befriends. She doesn’t have much of a temper, she’s more the broody kind of girl, but when something truly angers her, she can become incredibly ferocious – especially if it involves someone she cares about. The last thing you should know about George is that whilst she isn’t afraid of death (it happens to us all eventually, is hr way of thinking), she does have a slight fear of crowds. Enochlophobia, it’s called and it’s mainly due to the fear of her power. Crowds mean a lot of people jostling past and with George’s power, a brush of the arm or someone bumping into her means that they could end up as a stone statue.

Fears: Her power, being touched, being alone forever, being unloved, and she has a touch of enochlophobia – fear of crowds.
Goal: Georgia’s not really goal orientated. The only thing she wants in life is to be normal.
Power/Ability: Petrification - the ability to psionically transmute the cells of biotic subjects into a material similar to stone. One with this ability can petrify as many creatures as are in vision range (which make visual or physical contact). George is unable to control this ability so she cannot make direct skin contact with anyone without turning them to stone.
WELCOME TO MY LIFE ' '
Origin: New York City, then Seattle
History: To put this plainly, Georgia’s life hasn’t been a walk in the park. She’s been dealt a lot of hardships, starting way back when she was a toddler. To start off, she was born in New York City, the second of three daughters. She has little to no memory of her mother, as all three girls were taken away from her when they were young. You see, their mother (Olivia was her name, as George and her elder sister found out later) was a drug addict and couldn’t take care of them. Who knows who or where their father was, but he never came for the girls. George was only 3 and a half when they were taken from their mother, and even her older sister doesn’t remember much, though she was a year older. The three girls were placed in temporary foster care until they could find a permanent home for them, but the first major blow came a few weeks later. Although child services had been trying their best to keep the sisters together, a couple wanted to adopt the youngest of the three girls; the unnamed infant. The problem was, that they couldn’t afford to take the other two girls, so their youngest sister was taken from them, leaving the older girls in the foster system.
George was inconsolable for weeks, and she would cry every night, wondering where her sister was and praying for them to bring her back to them. However, only a few weeks after she had been adopted, they had even more bad news: their sister had moved to Greece with her adoptive parents (which they told her was “a long, long, way away”) and that they wouldn’t be able to see her again. George burst into tears once more and no-one, not even her sister could calm her down. For the next few years, the pair were shuffled around several different foster homes, each family worse than the last. None of them really seemed to care for the girls; they were more interested in the monthly cheque, so the sisters grew incredibly close. Child services tried very hard to always place them together since they had lost one sister, but this wasn’t always easy to do. When Georgia was seven and her sister eight, the pair were split up for three agonizing months, where they were each placed in different homes. Fortunately, they still got to see each other occasionally, since the separate homes weren’t too far apart, but it was still difficult not seeing her sister every day.
Luckily, after three months of playing up in her foster home (even though it was difficult because they were the best foster parents she’d had) George was reunited with her sister in a new foster situation. The next big hardship in the sisters’ lives came when George was nine and her sister ten. They were both placed in a foster home, where there were no other kids (to their relief). However, they soon realised that the new foster situation they were in was worse than any of their previous homes. Mitch, their foster father was a drunk and not the funny kind of drunk you can laugh at either, the violent kind. The girls learnt very early on to stay out of his way if he’d been drinking, though even that wasn’t a sure way of avoiding a beating. After several months of tip-toeing around the house to avoid setting him off, Georgia made a grave mistake. She accidentally knocked over a bottle of whiskey that had been sitting on the table and Mitch was furious. Knocking her to the floor with his fist, Mitch started beating her. Georgia was in so much pain that she didn’t notice when her sister came running in. She didn’t even notice when she picked up the iron and smacked him across the head with it. It was only when he fell to the floor unconscious did she realise something had happened.
Mitch wasn’t killed, but he had a bad head injury and as soon as he could talk, tried to press charges against the two girls. However, the police could see clearly what had happened to Georgia and charged him with child abuse. They still took her sister in for questioning though. Whilst her sister was being questioned by the police, George was recovering in hospital and that was when she met her new foster parents. Harvey Sinclair was a paediatrician and his wife Nicola was a nurse. They both worked in the hospital George had been sent to and once they met her they both knew they wanted to invite her to stay with them and to give George a new start. She was reluctant to leave without her sister, least of all because she had a feeling the Sinclair’s wouldn’t take her sister in after hearing what happened. She told them that she’d have to think about it, when what she really wanted was to ask her sister’s advice. Once her sister was let go from the police, she came to see Georgia in the hospital. George told her sister about the offer the Sinclair’s had made her and asked her what they should do. Her sister replied that she should take them up on the offer, since she wasn’t sure if child services would even place the two together anymore. They both already had to see a child psychologist to make sure there wasn’t any last damage from the incident.
Taking her sister’s advice, George decided to accept the Sinclair’s offer to be her new foster family and once she was well enough, she moved from the hospital to the Sinclair’s apartment in Manhattan. Shortly after, her sister was placed in a situation in Brooklyn, but the pair still met up frequently. A few months into her new foster home, her sister decided that it was about time the pair started searching for information on their mother and sister. After a lot of digging in old records at the library, they found an obituary for their mother, Olivia Greystone, who had died from a drug overdose three years ago. Knowing that the only other family they had left was their youngest sister, they doubled their effort on finding out where she had gone. Finally after a lot of effort, they found the adoption agency that had placed their sister, who eventually found an address for her and gave it to the sisters. They learnt that their sister was now called Medomai Cassian and they wrote a letter to her. They didn’t hear back for almost two months, and when they did, it wasn’t from their sister, but her adoptive parents. They explained in their letter that they didn’t want to upset their daughter with news of her sisters, so they hadn’t given her the letter and would they please not try to contact her again until Medomai turned eighteen. The sisters were upset and annoyed, but the Cassian’s were nice enough to send a photo of their sister, so they’d at least know what she looked like.
George stayed with her foster family for a year before they decided to adopt her. They had grown to like her, despite her background and wanted to give her a permanent home. George agreed because she thought that they would be living in Manhattan permanently and she would still get to see her sister. However, shortly after she turned eleven, her adoptive father gained an important fellowship in Seattle Children’s Hospital and as her legal guardians, the Sinclair’s had the final say on moving. By this time she was over her crying fits, instead keeping her emotions inside – but she didn’t speak to her adoptive parents for weeks. She couldn’t believe they’d taken her away from her sister when they knew how important she was to her. Saying goodbye to her sister, she left New York, ready to utterly hate Seattle. For the first few weeks, she did indeed hate it. She couldn’t stand the constant rain and she missed her sister like crazy, though they kept in touch through email and phone calls. However, during her sulking phase where she didn’t speak to anyone, she found ferry boats. Of course, New York had nothing like them and George decided that she liked them. Whenever she felt low or missed her sister she’d always go off by herself and take a ride on one.
They were the only thing that kept her breaking down during those weeks, but she was still miserable. George took to hanging round by herself, not speaking to anyone and even worse to come was her new school. George hated it. Or it would be more precise to say that she hated the people there. The girls were obnoxious and cliquey and the boys were at that stage where they thought girls had cooties. Some of the girls started picking on George because she was so quiet and anti-social, but George just gave them a hard, cold stare and they flinched away, muttering that she was crazy. They never spoke to her again though, which was how she liked it. As the years went on, George became more and more distant from everyone, even her adoptive family and it was for this reason that her power wasn’t discovered sooner. It was first discovered by her at the age of fourteen, when her adoptive parents bought her a cat in order to try and coax her out of her shell. She adored the little thing, and was horrified when the cat turned into stone at her very touch. Terrified of what she had done, she picked up the statue and buried it out in the woods where no-one could find it. She didn’t touch anyone else for a long time.
It wasn’t until George was seventeen did her power show itself again. Her next door neighbour was a boy her age, called Jamie and he’d secretly had a crush on George for about a year. She’d never paid him any attention before so Jamie decided that he would finally tell her the truth. He caught up with her on the way to school and finally told her that he liked her. George was shocked and telling him she didn’t want to go into this started pulling away from him. That was when Jamie kissed her – and immediately turned to stone. George fled the scene in a hurry, but she wasn’t fast enough, for she was seen by a startled neighbour. When she got home after a worrying day of school, a man and a woman were waiting for her at her house. They told her that they had heard what she had done to Jaime but she shouldn’t be frightened because they weren’t there to take her to jail but to a school for people like her, with abilities. They told her she was reincarnated from the gorgon Euryale and that her sisters both had abilities too. Her sister Medomai was already attending Pantheon and that they had yet to get in touch with her elder sister. After giving them her sister’s address, George agreed to attend this school.
CONNECTION TO THE MYTH ' '
• When her sister was adopted and taken away from Georgia she cried for weeks (Euryale was known for her bellowing cries after Medusa’s death)
• She has large eyes and a cold, hard stare (The gorgons gaze turned men to stone and they were said to have large, staring eyes)
• Her power is the same, only Georgia needs to touch someone for them to be turned to stone
• She likes cats (Lionesses and sphinxes are frequently associated with the Gorgons)
• She cares about her sisters and is protective of them (Euryale and Stheno were incredibly angry when Medusa was killed and tried to follow Perseus to get revenge)
• She feels very alienated from the world (The gorgons were obviously alienated from the world as they lived on an island together away from everyone, and the only people they ever saw turned to stone.)
