STRIKE A POSE ' '
Physical Appearance: Very pretty, she has nice long black hair that she often wears down, bur she will put it in a ponytail when swimming or working in her garden. She has eyes as blue as the sea, and has to wear glasses from time. She has a well built frame from being on the swim team at her old school. She stands around 5'5 and weighs around 105. She mostly wears jeans, but has nothing against skirts and dresses, and more often than not she has a smudge of dirt somewhere on her clothes. Most of her jeans have fairly worn knees, but she chooses to keep them that way instead of buying new ones.
She moves with very fluid motions and regardless of her current mood you can usually find a smile on her lips. Callie's eyes are very soft and when you look at them you want to tell her everything, or at least she's heard that description before. When in a bad mood Callie usually looks like a kid who got told their puppy got run over, their dad got struck by lightning, and Christmas has been cancelled all in one day. It is very heart wrenching and has tugged at even the coldest of heart's before. Callie's skin is a very sort of olive color because of all of her time spent outside in the water, and because she's never really bothered to use sunblock before.
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description: Callie is as sweet as can be despite her troubled past and believes that there is good in everyone. That is not to say that she is naïve though, she recognizes that there are people who are evil out there. If someone is close to her heart though, she sometimes chooses to overlook their faults, sometimes refusing to even acknowledge that those faults exist. She hasn't really 'fallen' for a guy yet, but there have been crushes. These crushes have been fleeting though since most of the time she ends up getting in over her head and slightly clingly, only she watches them from afar since she doesn't always know how to approach a guy. She can be fairly clingly although not to the point where she needs to know where you are every second o the day although if she hears about a guy she likes hanging out with another girl she can have the tendency to show up as the unwelcome third party.
She doesn’t like to argue if she doesn’t need to, but her logic and ability to keep a cool head often trumps others if she does get into an argument. Cali is an extreme pacifist and strongly against drinking to the point. She will often hide her true emotions for the sake of those she cares for, even if it means hurting herself. She’s never been a big flirt before, but not socially clueless, she’s just never found a guy she really cares enough about to put herself out there for. Callie has an odd fear of being left alone, not really because she thinks someone will come and kidnap her or something along those lines, but because it makes her afraid that her grandparents will have been right all along in saying that she is completely unloved. She also has a certain disrespect for authority figures since her father was wrongfully imprisoned and no one tried to help him. Instead of directly rebelling though, Callie has the tendency to rebel in such a way that either, it can't be counted as rebellion or she can never be caught.

WELCOME TO MY LIFE ' '
[/blockquote]
Origin: Martha’s Vineyard (a small island off the coast of Massachusetts)
History:Callie’s father Atala Ipsa originally married his high school sweetheart named Penelope, and he originally lived in the heart of New York near where his family had lived for generations after immigrating. Traces of his original heritage were almost completely wiped out (except in name) and he looked like any other guy, and he was just like any other guy. He was a middle class American working for an architectural company with a fairly nice apartment near the center of New York. With Penelope he had a single son, Hyas, named for Atala’s great-great grandfather. Unfortunately he lost his wife after she had to have an emergency C-section and lost too much blood. He vowed to never love (or marry) again, blamed his son for the loss of his wife, and began to take to drinking. Regardless of his hatred for his son however he never found himself capable of abandoning Hyas, since the reminder of his wife was a blessing as well as a curse.
Her father moved out to Martha’s Island to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and to try and escape the memories of his wife. There he met Cali’s mother at a welcome to the neighborhood party that she threw for him. According to her grandmother both her mother and Atala were smitten, but Atala refused her for awhile in memory of his first wife. Eventually though she cracked through his rough interior and after several dates they ended up moving in together. She then told him of her pregnancy and at first he was happy as could be, he even stopped drinking for awhile. Unfortunately his now sober mind allowed him to think clearly for the first time in months and he realized that he had broken the promise he had made to his wife. He then took to drinking once more and began to beat Hyas for his own mistakes and for ‘being the cause’ of his wife’s death. Callie’s mother’s family, who had lived on the island for as long as anyone could remember, began extremely adamant that the two marry but Atala continued to refuse wanting to at least keep part of his promise to his wife.
Cali was born on the winter solstice (December 21), much to the happiness of her mother but to the displeasure of her father and her mother’s family. As time went on her father continued to drink and began to beat her mother for ‘being a temptress,’ he continued to beat her brother as well. At one point, while she was still an infant, he even apparently dangled her out of a second story window threatening to drop her but apparently he found himself unable to. Although he never explained it to anyone after that point in time, he did reveal to his wife that she looked so much like his baby sister. Who, apparently, had died in a house fire that had been caused by tossing a tea towel onto her stove. After that point it became clear who her father favorite, he never once beat her much to the displeasure of her brother who came to feel a certain loathing for his sister. Regardless of his love for her, her father continued to drink and would even beat her mother and brother in front of her.
Despite all this Callie grew up fairly normally, living on an island she always had access to the beach and went there whenever she could. Her mother taught her to swim, to play the guitar her mother, and even helped her to make a small garden in the backyard. Her mother also taught her brother to fish and to take care of himself, although this almost peaceful life was never meant to last. On her 7th birthday her mother vanished, seemingly from the face of the earth. There were plenty of rumors flying around, but no one knew exactly what to believe. Her grandparents and most of the community grew extremely suspicious of her father who, in truth, had never been very secretive about the beatings. Knowing that he was beating her brother they managed to remove him from her father, but they had no reason to remove her so they were forced to allow her to stay with her father. The day that her mother left was the day that she received her cockatiel, Gozo.
She happily lived with him for the next 7 years, although completely aware of what people had thought that her father had done. She grew closer to her father when he was sober, which seemed to be more and more often. She would openly defend him though when she heard someone accuse him, and in her mind her mother had simply made the choice to leave. During the time that she lived with her father she worked hard at school gaining good grades and joined the swim team helping them to win many competitions although because of their size as a school they could not enter regionals and such. Her peers always commented on her ability to swim for much longer than others and how she never had to come up for air as often as others did. She always brushed it off though thinking that she could do these things since she had been swimming since she could remember. Towards her 14th birthday though she began to learn of her unusual ability to move water without having to lift a finger, she only ever saw this ability in small bodies of water, but she was still amazed by this ability and began to wonder at what it could be.
Her mind was not occupied with thoughts of her strange ability for long though, soon after she turned 15 her grandparents finally managed to fabricate all of the evidence that they needed to arrest her father. The trial lasted 3 months, but the kangaroo court did not rule in her father’s favor. He was given a life sentence for the murder of his wife and the beating of his son, regardless of Callie’s pleas to believe that he did not commit the crime. Because of her father’s life sentence Callie was then sentenced to live with her mother’s parents and her brother. She was happy enough to be reunited with her brother, whom she loved regardless of his obvious disdain for her, her grandparents were another matter. Her grandfather had spent his entire life working as a fisherman and her grandmother a hotel clerk, both were devout Catholics and hated pretty much everything. On moving in with them she was told that she was expected to get a job, wear only dresses (or sweaters accompanied by long skirts), forget all about her father, give up her guitar, quit the swim team, and get rid of Gozo (she only bothered to change her clothing style though). Through pretending to have an aftersschool job she managed to continue on the swim team, had a friend watch Gozo for her, and hid her guitar. Her life wife her grandparents for the next 2 years were awful for Callie, even when she followed all of her grandparents’ instructions they never seemed to be pleased with her and often sent her to her room without supper. Unbeknownst to her their natural hatred for her stemmed from not only the fact that she was an illegitimate child (her parents never did marry), but also from the fact that she had defended her father so adamantly during his trial and even before that.
It all stopped though when her brother was killed in a boating accident, apparently by some drunken vacationers. Callie was probably the saddest of all the mourners and made it a habit of hers to take flowers to his grave once a week, and as usual her grandparents found a way to blame her for his death. With her brother dead, her father in prison, and her mother missing Callie began to feel the damage that true loneliness could cause even as she tried to convince herself to move on and that things would get better.
With her life becoming somewhat similar to @#!*% she was more than ecstatic when someone from Pantheon came to offer her a scholarship. Needing the consent of a parent or guardian they went to her grandparents who, at first, refused to even believe that what this woman was saying was real. Then the woman transformed into a tiger right before their eyes, but transformed back fairly quickly. Her grandmother began to yell at the woman, screaming for her to get out, tired of the yelling Callie spoke up and asked her grandmother to just let her go. That only made things worse as her grandmother turned on her calling her disrespectful for not appreciating all that they did to take care of her. This was the last straw for Callie and she began to yell for the first time in her life, as she yelled the house began to shake. Callie found out later that the pipes had been reacting to her sudden anger, Callie was normally very calm and level headed explaining why it had never happened before. Maybe out of shock, maybe out of fear at her retaliation they reluctantly agreed to let her go, although after causing the house to shake her grandmother told her that she was no longer allowed to return home. So she set off for her exile to Pantheon, somewhat sad at leaving her father but all the more happy for the new chance at a new life.

ROLEPLAYING SAMPLE ' '
Callie stared out the window as rain dripped against the pane, it had been raining all day so she couldn't be in her gareden or go swimming. Gozo screeched on her knee and Callie giggled stroaking his head, she loved little Gozo. "Callie!" she heard someone yell from downstairs. "Coming!" she yelled back before taking Gozo off her knee and putting him on her shoulder. She jumped down the stairs two at a time sighing, she knew that a drunken father probably awaited her. As she reached the bottom of the stairs she looked back up, the attic had always been her bedroom. It was nice enough, it had a good veiw of her garden as well as the sea, but sometimes it just reminded her that she was trapped here. She liked Martha's Vineyard don't get her wrong, but she didn't want to be here all her life when there was so much to see.
"Callie come here!" her father called from another room. "I'm coming dad!" she called back as her heart skipped a beat, he sounded sober. She dashed into the other room and there stood her father with a few packages in her hand. "Dad what is this?" Callie asked sounding confused. Her father coffed and she could tell he was embarresed, "Well, today is your birthday.... right?" Callie smiled excitedly, he'd remembered. "Yeah dad, I'm turning 15 today," she said still grinning. Her father nodded he'd never been a sentimental person, even when he was sober, but she could tell he was trying. "Well go on and open them," he said putting the packages on the table, "and when you're done I even got a cake." Callie's smile only grew, she ran to her father squeezing him tight, "thanks dad," she muttered. He laughed and patted her head, "no problem kiddo." A squak from the rafters interupted them and looking up Callie realized that Gozo had fled her shoulder in favor of one of the rafters. She looked at her father and they both laughed. "I think he wants to say happy birthday too kiddo," her father said still chuckling. Cillie giggled and nodded her head in agreement as Gozo flew back down onto her shoulder, "I think he also wants to say thanks dad, isn't that right Gozo?" Gozo squaked again flapping his wings and Callie laughed once more.
The rest of the day was one of the best birthdays Callie had ever had. After eating cake her father had taken out his old guitar that he hadn't played in years and taught her some new songs. Little did she realize what horrors the months to come would bring, or how this last birthday with her father would be the last bit of hope that she would cling onto for the next few years.
