People say I'm gorgeous. And I am. Honestly speaking, yeah, I have the looks. Dirty blond hair, hazel eyes, fair skin - a knockout. That can be a bad thing, though - I can never tell who's talking to me to get laid and who's talking to me to get to know me. My friend once told me I had eyes like clay diamonds - soft and gentle yet bold and relentlessly tough, with an electric current running beneath. She was a deep kid. But I guess it's true - I do tend to look intense when my face isn't in its resting state, and I can get pretty scary sometimes, like when I'm mad. When I feel things, I really feel them, and you can really see it. Which is why it's a good thing I'm a good actress - masking my emotions is definitely a plus. Still, I have a nice face, so I really wish I could tell whether other people are masking theirs just so they can get with me.

I might be lovely, but I'm also... SHORT. Dun dun dun. I prefer to call it vertically challenged. I don't know why I am; my parents are both tall, so you'd think I would be too, but I guess my chromosomes were having a bad day (and now I'm paying for it for the extent of my whole life.) I'm okay with it, though. After all, I'm a lot more muscular than the average girl. Yes, I work out. I have a lot of stamina and endurance - I can go for a long time without tiring and even after that I can go still longer if I truck through. Hey, goddess of strength, right? I do gymnastics, so my body is really well trained and flexible, and I have a great reaction time besides. All of it spells out really well in a fight. Problem is, I never get into one. But I don't hate my body. My chest is a little small - yeah. But I've gotten over that, along with my shortness. I am who I am and that's how it is.

Yeah, I'm stylish. And proud. I love wearing things (and shopping for them). More often than not I wear tunics with quirky necklaces on top of jeans, light tops and skirts, or dresses - oh, and scarves, of which I have many. Jeans are my best friend. Thing is, I need to feel free - so sweatpants are my other best friend. I also have a stash of quirky necklaces and an army of flats and guy shoes which I break out with relish. For my hair, I either put it up into a loose bun or leave it down; nothing fancy unless one of my fancy friends comes along and wants to do something. Sometimes I'll find feathers lying along a path and I'll stick them in my hair without reservation. Good stuff.

I guess the first thing anyone notices about me when they actually get to know me is my character. Moxie, for lack of a better word. I'm warning you now - I'm a candid girl; it might come off as arrogance or lack of tact, but it's just me, and I guess you'll have to learn to deal. Deal? So... me. Amelys Andrea Perionos. Athena for short. I'm not afraid to speak my mind; actually, I embrace that. When I don't agree with something, I'll say it, especially when what I don't agree with isn't fair or just, or if it hurts someone else. And yeah, that does get me into trouble sometimes. I'm not afraid, though - not afraid of social rejection or of being gossiped about behind my back. Integrity and honor and respect are what I believe in, and nothing can change that - I'm Athena, for the gods' sake.

My history definitely comes into play with that too - growing up without parents was and is hard and it's forced me to be independent and strong. Not to mention having to fend off dumb guys. I get into verbal fights a lot because of that, but that's where moxie comes in. I won't back down under a bully's fists or insults; in fact, more often than not, I'll reciprocate with a few cutting replies. I'll pursue what I love with alacrity and cut down what I hate with passion - it's a double-edged sword, and almost always people are behind that sword instead of before it.

Justice is awesome. I love justice. It's great. If justice was a person, I'd marry it.

Okay, not really. That's kinda weird. But justice is one of my passions. You know, I actually get physically distressed when I see injustice, which is one of the reasons why I don't watch the news unless I actually want to get pissed. My cheeks get all red and my jaw clenches and my fists curl. It's not a pretty sight, at least for me, although one of my friends told me once that I look really hot when I'm pissed. I slapped him in the back of the head. But that's beside the point. So... those little confrontations I get into so often? Usually because of my love of justice. If someone gets called a name or taken advantage of or beaten up, I turn into an verbal angry bear. One thing to note, though, is that I never get into a physical fight unless I absolutely have to. People always assume that Athena is the goddess of warfare; she's not. In fact, she preferred to use wisdom to solve things first and I try to tell the person off first. So don't be dumb and you'll never have to see the Smokey side of me. Shut up, Roger. That's with an E.

aesthetics

Of course, there's a side to me beyond the whole justice-law-war-strength-courage part. Athena was goddess of inspiration and crafts, and I definitely see that in myself. I'm a hard-core aesthete: I love art and beauty. It's why I sing and play the piano and guitar, why I do photography, why I stare out the window and take long walks. One of my hobbies is finding beautiful things and collecting them - autumn leaves, skipping stones, eagle feathers (and I tend to find ways to wear them too, which can be either good or bad) Not to mention I love working with my hands, which is why woodshop is also my thing. What can I say? I'm a hopeless aesthetic. It's a beautiful thing.
