Physical Appearance: Ryosuke is a stylish and slender young Japanese male. To many non-Japanese he is rather effeminate but this is something desired in his culture and he is generally well known for his good looks. He is relatively tall for a Japanese, but about average height at Pantheon (he’s 5’10”). Like a typical Japanese he spends more time on his hair than many girls do, styling and coloring it sometimes from day to day. Because of his nature, he gets bored of one style very easily. He has the yellowish complexion of a Japanese person and is otherwise a good example of an attractive Japanese male.
His attire is as varied as his personality. He wears the latest fashions with his own twist, he likes all colors except purple and he never wears hats. He often wears jewelry to accessorize with what he’s wearing but he always wears his lightning bolt necklace that he got from his mother. The necklace is on a silver chain and has a faded gold lightning bolt charm. Even if it were to clash with his outfit, he will simply hide the necklace but will rarely go anywhere without it. His look is very important to him so complimenting him on his clothes or his style will get you in with him quick but saying anything negative about it is a fast route to getting shocked (sometimes figuratively, sometimes not)
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description: Like the thunder god from which his spirit rises, Ryosuke is everywhere at once. Some call him scatter-brained, fickle, and ADHD but he prefers to think of it as “in the moment.” He loves to enjoy things and doesn’t think about the future that much, doesn’t really plan ahead that often. This is something that has been known to get him into trouble, not making plans and just sort of rushing in head first hoping for something new and fun. Needless to say, he is very spontaneous. This is not to say that he’s wired 24 hours a day, on bright sunny days, when his energy is low he can be pensive and noticeably slower in his actions. If given the choice, he will always pick cloudy, windy, stormy weather over clear skies!
Interpersonally, Ryosuke loves to meet new people but he picks love/hate quickly, he makes strong first impressions. People that are stuck up and tight-assed go on his “avoid” list while fun-lovers like himself often become great friends with him. He has been in relationships before but always as the sort of quick fling bad boy, the image he strived for when he was rebelling in Japan. In his new setting he’s been thinking it would be nice to have an actual relationship with a European girl, oh won’t his friends back home be jealous! One thing to know about Ryosuke is to never talk about his parents, especially his mother. If someone asks about his parents or his necklace he’ll give a quick answer but will go out of his way to change the subject quickly.

Fears: Ryosuke’s fears lie deep within his understanding of what it means to be reincarnated as a God. While he is ecstatic at his having been chosen to have powers and leave an extraordinary life, he fears that the great responsibility piled on behind these powers may one day overwhelm him. Furthermore, he fears that the spirit of Raijin will dictate his fate and that he will be destined to become someone, rather than who he wants to become.
Goal: His long-term goals are largely unset at this point in his life; he enjoys making music and fashion but doesn’t see himself doing either as a full-time career. He certainly doesn’t want to live the salary-man life of the Japanese business man. But his volatile nature sometimes makes him wonder if he wouldn’t be well-suited for the military, despite his slender and fashionable look.
Power/Ability: For his first ability, I would like to draw from the nature of lightning (Raijin’s primary element) and transfer this to teleportation. When he concentrates on an area he can see, a bright flash will emit from his body and as fast as it takes lightning to strike he will relocate to the place he was focusing on. If he is looking at a solid object or person, he will end up right next to it but closer to his original position than on the other side of the object. From his own experience, Ryosuke describes it as though he is taken up into the clouds then placed back down where he was looking but he can still use this ability indoors.
WELCOME TO MY LIFE ' '
Place of Origin: Osaka, Japan
History:
Ryosuke was born to a middle class Japanese family that lived in the outskirts of the great city of Osaka, Japan. His father, Kazehito, was and is the head priest at a small Shinto temple in their neighborhood that is dedicated to the gods Fujin and Raijin, gods of wind, thunder, and storms. His father always told Ryosuke that the day he was born, one of the monks reported that the 10 foot tall stone statue of the thunder god had lurched to the side and toppled over, away from the statue of Fujin. Likewise, a strange power surge occurred throughout the hospital a few hours after Ryosuke’s birth. These ominous signs were interpreted but even Ryosuke’s father did not believe that his son was some messenger of Raijin, like the others thought. They were close.
Ryosuke grew up in a typical Japanese school, wearing the little outfit and sticking with the same class through his early years of grade school. In middle school, he started cram school to get into a competitive high school so that he could later get into a good college. His father’s plan was that Ryosuke would take over the family business of running the temple when he retired but Ryosuke was nothing like his old man. Where his father was slow and patient, always putting up with the rambunctious little thunder god, Ryosuke was always mobile, always active. In middle school he also picked up the drums and running track, two things he turned out to be a natural at. This may seem like a large load but it was typical of students in his grade and area. But the further involved in school Ryosuke became, the more he hated the order and stagnation of it all, he couldn’t stand it.
When he did fairly well on his high school entrance exams, he got into the best high school in Osaka but the stuffy nature and attitude of the people there only served to agitate the kinetic young man. Ryosuke entered his rebellious stage; he started skipping out on school to hang out with his friends from middle school who didn’t get into as good of high schools. They formed a band for which Ryosuke was the drummer. He still ran track with his high school and for that he never missed a practice because he was good at it and he always won. At that rate, his teachers and parents said he would get a scholarship to a great college, even despite his poor performance in classes and attendance. Ryosuke wouldn’t hear of it. He picked up smoking to anger his parents more and more, his father, a normally calm monk, was furious. Eventually, Ryosuke couldn’t take the confinement, he left his home and stayed with a friend.
In his sophomore year of high school, he had been out of his house for 4 months and the kids on the track team began to tease him. By this point his interest in running had even waned; nothing could hold his attention. He was losing a race at practice one day, while the others teased him Ryosuke grew angry, agitated, and charged. Pushing himself to show them who was REALLY fast, he blinked and found himself down the length of the 100 meter track. Stopping stunned, everyone stared at him until a quick flash shown again and he was gone. After a week of trying to tap back into that power, Ryosuke showed up uninvited to a track meet his team was in. Avoiding his coach and getting into the race, Ryosuke bounded through the race in bursts and finished a full 3 kilometers before anyone else.
After this, a strong urge brought him back to his house where he found that his mother was dying. She had cancer and only a few weeks left to live. In this time, Ryosuke was the perfect filial son, trying to spend as much time with his mother as he could and his father was proud of him for returning. But shortly before she passed, they were approached by a strange school called “Pantheon Academy” who had apparently heard of his exploits at the race. After consulting with his father, the faculty of this school concluded that he was the reincarnation of the thunder god Raijin, his parents were both amazed and unspeakably proud of their son. 3 days later, his mother died with a smile on her face and the lightning bolt necklace she wore was given to him. That was the summer of his sophomore year, the next year he started at Pantheon Academy, looking for something to fill the whole in his heart created by his mother’s death, and to find out more about who he truly was; intrigued beyond all measure at the potential his life now had.
CONNECTION TO THE MYTH ' '
There is really too much to tell if you really scrutinize my history but I will go over the main things. –Tenhyaku means thundering heavens
-The obvious signs of when he was born
-Raijin traditionally creates thunder by playing drums
-He’s fast like lightning and wild like storms
-The old Japanese myth is that Raijin would come and eat children’s belly buttons; this was used to scare children and explains his strange fetish.
-Smoking represents the smoky veil that Raijin was often seen around him.
ROLEPLAYING SAMPLE ' '
Ryosuke walked lazily around the grounds outside of Pantheon Academy with a big grin on his face. Why the grin? In the distance he could see storm clouds rolling in from the city and had heard on tv that morning that they were expecting a major thunder storm that night. He stopped at a large rock in the grassy area and propped one leg up, resting his elbow on his knee and looking bemusedly at the coming strife. In the distance he saw a glimmering spark of lightning crash down and his whole body lit up with excitement as he stared at the blackening sky.
Turning around he could see the high wall of the school and the roof where he had been trying to get to for the purpose of getting closer to his element. He had been experimenting with his lightning dash, finding that at those high speeds he can mostly defy gravity as long as he is running up some surface. Taking a few steps to warm up he put on a straight face then in a flash he was halfway up the wall, gravity began to take hold as he fell back on his right foot. With another flash he was standing on top of the tall building looking down out of breathe and smiling. Taking a break, he broke out a cigarette and lit it, taking a deep drag he made himself comfortable waiting for the storm to break out.
