Full Name: Veda Cadence Kyomizu
Significance of Name:

• Kyomizu- Japanese surname that means “pure water.” There’s a story about Saraswati having her river purified by monks because an angry warrior had polluted it earlier by making it a river of blood. Plus, a Japanese name is suiting because Saraswati made it as far as Japan, where she was known as Benzaiten.
  
• Veda- Indian name that means “Eternal knowledge.” Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge (amongst other things) and was considered to be the ‘mother of the vedas’, a set of sacred Indian texts.
  
• Cadence- Latin name meaning “rhythm.” Saraswati is also a goddess of music.

Physical Appearance: Veda is a Eurasian. Her mother is Japanese in ethnicity and her father in Italian. Veda has primarily Asian features. Her eyes are almost shaped and a deep shade of red-brown. Her skin is very pale and, despite her Italian background, she burns very easily. Her hair is coal colored and she never lets it grow past her shoulders, as it gets in her way and thus annoys her to no end. She has a very sweet smile and pearly teeth. Because she feels insecure about her forehead (she calls it a five-head), she usually has bangs or some sort of hairstyle that covers her forehead. She has a button nose and perfect cupid’s bow lips, colored pink. She has a heart-shaped face. She’s not seductress attractive, but she is girl-next-door attractive. She usually wears glasses to read. Whether they’re the ones with the lenses or without depends on what she’s doing.

Her fashion sense changes with the wind. She’s a creative soul, so sometimes she’ll be wearing ‘normal clothes’ and other times she’ll look like a unicorn pooped a rainbow all over her. It really depends on her mood. She usually always has either a book or her lute on her person somewhere. She grew up in Toronto, so she can take the cold, but she’ll usually wear a big puffy jacket anyway. She’s a skinny thing with a tiny bust, but doesn’t really mind it too much. She’s not trying to attract a man who’s only interested in her body.

She doesn’t wear jewelry. She thinks it’s ugly. She prefers to accent her appearance with clothes or scarves or whatever. She prefers comfort over beauty. She’ll wear make-up when the moment calls for it, but generally just uses lip-gloss and maybe a face powder or some sort.

Weaknesses:
- Socially Stupid- Veda has more of a connection with her books than she does with anything else. She’s a little on the dorky side and tends to have issues relating to people on a level they understand. Plus, she’s really into knowledge of all sorts and can come off as kooky, especially when she gets into a New Age phase.
- One-Track Mind- When Veda is studying or reading or playing her lute or tinkering, it’s really hard to get her attention. She will not answer until she’s done. Really. Short of hitting her with a mallet, she won’t notice you’re there until she’s finished.
- Touches without asking- It’s not unusual for Veda to see a new object to mess around with or study and then just take it without asking. She’s very touchy feeling and has little respect for people’s personal boundaries/objects/etc.
- Values Knowledge over human contact- There are time when people won’t see Veda for days because she’s reading or studying or tinkering or something of the like. She doesn’t need a whole lot of human contact and once went a whole week without realizing that her phone line had been cut off due to not paying the bill.

Goal: Start a charity that promotes literacy (yes, very Miss America. She’s aware of that.)

Power/Ability: Superhuman Intelligence- Saraswati was the goddess of knowledge and Veda has the ability of superhuman intelligence. She has a hyper-mind, able to solve equations faster than computers and can reduce everything into basic numbers and concepts. She has the ability for the mind to learn and retain knowledge on a better level than that of a normal human. She’s able to decipher knowledge that lies within a subject by studying it, allowing one superhuman learning speed and comprehension, accompanied by superhuman leaps of logic and better-than-normal memory. The longer she studies, the smarter she gets. She can review the same material for a short time and still learn new things. She is capable of knowledge and comprehension beyond the human ability to understand. She is potentially capable of mastering every worldly subject and capable of adopting concepts completely foreign to her environment. Her ability to predict probable outcomes of tactical and strategic scenarios is so advanced that it borders on clairvoyance, though she hardly taps into it because she finds strategy and tactics a little boring. Her intuition is heightened to the degree that her hunches are almost always correct. She has a near perfect memory with the ability to recall quite a bit. She possesses knowledge of genetics, physics, and robotics, and has designed a large number of sophisticated weapons, vehicles, computers, androids, and synthetic humanoids, though they’re all on paper only, as she doesn’t have the resources to make any of these things.
