• First Impression | Vino groaned and hit the snooze button on what he was sure was an alarm clock, but he couldn’t be totally sure because it sounded like a combo of a buzzer and a dying cat. Seeing as how he wasn’t one to kill animals, he hoped it was merely a buzzer that sounded like a dying cat. He apparently had a class to teach with all of three students in it. Didn’t know what he could teach them really. Acting always came naturally to him because he was, quite frankly, always acting every day of his life. The staff at Pantheon had long since taken him off the medications that suppressed his powers, but he had taken to ‘acting’ normal. Always, underneath his boyish features and smiles, he was screaming for his old life and who he used to be. He groaned, sitting up, and placed his feet on the freezing wood floor. A shiver went up his body and he groaned again. Wearing just his boxers at the moment, he scratched at his legs that had the amount of hair typical to a young man his age, but a surprisingly bare torso and chest. He was very lightly olive skinned and he scratched his chest, his eyes still closed with sleep.
Vino hands, dry at the moment, reached for a shirt, any shirt, and found one, quickly popping it over himself. It smelled like beer. He pulled it off and found another. He had been drinking, which explained why he wanted to kill whatever the hell was making that hammer sound outside. All of his clothes smelled like beer or liquor or ‘skunk.’ Vino stood, scratched at his crotch and headed to the toilet, relieved himself and then flopped back on his bed. He’d have to run a comb through his hair and pull on pants eventually. In the meantime, he wanted a few extra minutes of sleep.
personality.
• Overall Personality | Vino used to be a hellion. He grew up without rules or boundaries or people to tell him no. He killed people and didn’t feel bad about it at the time. He used to bounce off the walls and had little regard for his own life or that of others. He used to be the first to volunteer to jump off the side of a building or drink some unknown substance. When Vino was around, something was going to get broken. He was a rambunctious kid and tended to be reckless with people’s personal property. He was also spontaneous and tended to flip between calm and wild fairly regularly. One minute, he could be calm and relaxed and the next he could be tossing a desk out the window, laughing like a maniacal freak. He was a true wild child and liked to ignore people’s personal boundaries or property boundaries.
That’s how he used to be when he first came to Pantheon Academy. Then they started drugging him, ensuring he didn’t use his abilities because he would use them with great reckless abandon. Vino tried to use his abilities but they had deadened them, only giving them to him slowly as time went on. Since then, it’s had a profound effect on him.
He feels like there is constantly something lurking under the surface, that old person that he used to be and, honestly, missed a lot. Now he feels tamed and a little sad but one girl has made it all worth it. He fell deeply for Arianna Naxos when he met he and still loves her. For her, he was willing to keep the beast at bay, but it’s still there, always poking at him
Though he loves Ariana, they are not together. So, Vino considers himself still free to pursue more primal relationships. Vino loves women and men almost as much as he loves booze. He would rather surround himself in women than he would men and generally has many girlfriends at once, saying that he doesn’t like to ‘throw-away’ anything. Despite appearances and having issues with personal boundaries, he is generally very respectful with women and men, recognizing when no means no and never pushing the matter. He loves sex, though, and, thanks to his ability, is generally an awesome lover. Due to his vast amount of female and male partners, some would say he has commitment issues. However, he says that he’s fine with commitment; it’s just going to take a very special girl or boy in order for him to commit.
Vino loves drinking. Using his ability to make him appear older, he can usually score drinks no matter where he is. Being a great actor, he can also play the part of an older gentlemen tends to accumulate booze that way as well. Whenever people see him, nine times out of ten, he’s drunk and doesn’t really care what people think of him because of it. He drinks as a coping mechanism and often experiments by making different kinds of alcohol, exotic and home-grown both. He knows a number of fancy kinds and is kind of a connoisseur of fine liquors, beers, and various other beverages in general.
Vino is very generous, although sometimes he doesn’t really know what an appropriate way to reward someone is. Like in the case of his uncle’s buddy Mike, he gave the guy literally anything he wanted and Mike almost died because it. Thus, Vino tends to be too literal when he rewards people and it genuinely ends badly, despite the good intentions behind it. He still gives like crazy, seeing no reason why anyone should go wanting for anything. It even makes him feel uncomfortable. He’s known what it was to go with out and had many homeless friends, so giving has always been in his nature.

ability.
The power to generate illusions.
-The Superpower Wiki
• Applications
- Vino can trick people into perceiving unreal things, illusions are not tangible, but can be very realistic to subjects.
- There are several ways his illusions can be created, for example Sense Manipulation, through limited Mind Control, Hypnosis or by Light Manipulation.
- Vino can create complex and detailed worlds when he needs too, but mostly he’s able to alter the way he or the target is perceived.
- Vino can tap into a person’s emotions, often putting out an illusion and letting the target fill in what they want to see. He doesn’t actively try and do it. He just gives the person the metaphorical tools while they fill in the rest for the best or for the worst.
Other Applications:
- Altering Appearance : Vino, who is not exactly combat savvy, would use his ability as a defense mechanism to camouflage himself, and even alter his physical appearance to look like someone or something else.
- Mazes: Vino display large walls.
- Phobia Exploitation: Targets experience their worst fears.
- Sensory Overload: Targets are forced with overlapping visions, causing several negative symptoms.
- Hallucination Inducing, also called Delusion Inducing or the Psychedelic Effect is a faculty of Illusion in which Vino can induce psychedelic hallucinations in subjects at will. This ability psychically causes the subject's imagination to overact, resulting in paranoia and delirium. This ability may even cause the foe to feel as though only experiencing that which is pleasurable to him instead of what’s actually happening or the like. This ability has no need for the Vino's imagination; the subject's mind does all of the work (and has a compelling sense of the hallucination’s reality).
• Limitations
- High level telepaths and other illusionists are immune to this ability. Likewise, he’s immune to other illusionists and other high level telepaths.
- Since this isn’t an exact science most of the time, Vino may be unable to create accurate illusions, such as making a things that don't exist or situations that would never happen in a million years. One common mistake is misplacing a feature on a person, or forgetting to add shadows to their forms
- Some illusions Vino has no control over. When he tries to scare a person, he’ll put out the illusion and the target’s mind will fill in whatever terrifies them. He has no control over what they see. It’s the same with whatever makes them happy, sad, horny, etc.
- Can’t make lasting illusions. If he sets up an illusion and leaves it for more than a day, it’ll vanish on its own.
Can’t do yet:
- Mirage Inducing- a version of Illusion in which Vino can generate illusions which last, and are entirely real, as long as the targets do not know that they are illusions. With this ability he could cause any type of illusion he desires, but the second that someone calls out “It’s not real!”, shakes subjects out of their deluded state or the subjects see Vino working his power, then the illusions will wear off, entirely (or until Vino can go unnoticed to use his ability again).
- Death by Illusion: If the illusion is powerful enough, it can literally convince the brain to copy anything that happens to the victim within the illusion, making it possible to kill the target with illusions.
[/li][li]Illusion of Death: Target thinks they are being killed over and over again. This may lead to insanity.
[/blockquote]
The power to control plant-life.
-The Superpower Wiki
• Applications
- Vino can create, control, shape and manipulate plants, including wood, vines, plants, fruits and flowers, even moss and fungus. Vino can cause plants to grow from the soil, move/attack or even rise from the soil and 'walk', mutate plants by rearranging DNA structure, and revive withered or dead plants.
- Vino can use his power for transport, he could create a bridge of leaves, levitating the leaves and making them stay there or stick together to form bridges or constructs, shape the trees or even 'surf' using the grass.
- He can use his power for defense and support by growing plants from the ground and make them sprout seeds/fruits/berries, or even to possibly use plant chemicals to heal people or objects or manipulate their properties for a wide range of effects.
- The ability may deal a series of offensive techniques on a target. Weaponizing the plants allows Vino to grasp and strike continuously with vines and roots, project thorns at a distance, and quickly regenerate the withering weapons at Vino’s will. Vino can cause horticulture found, i.e. wrap of vines, to grow and climb around a target's neck, causing choking, or even strike with plants. A more subtle technique is to release damaging toxins and pheromones, affecting targets in which conditions should be treated quickly with ailments.
- In the higher levels, plants may be controlled in their altered forms, i.e. concentrated forms, such as cotton clothing/fabric, paper. Vino may even be capable of psychically regenerating one single species plant into another genus of plant.
Other Applications:
- Promote plant growth and vegetation, this ranges from normal to instant effects.
- Rearrange the genetic structure in plants, including creation of mutant plants.
- Shape, move and animate plants and wood for various purposes/effects:
- Camouflage by covering the user or blending in with leaves or petals.
- Constructs of plants or plant material, including weapons, walls, armor or allies/servants.
- Matter Surfing using crass, trees, leaves, petals and/or any form of plants or their parts.
- Missile Generation using thorns, branches and/or stakes.
- Wrap opponents with vines constricting and binding/imprisoning/stopping people/objects etc.
- Plant Communication
- Sensing through plants.
- Anthokinesis: control and manipulate flowers.
- Mycokinesis: control and manipulate fungi.
- Nature Enhancement: augment, grow or bring plants back to life and even manifest them magically.
- Palynokinesis: control and manipulate plant spores.
- Papyrokinesis: control and manipulate paper-based materials.
- Plant Growth: accelerate plant growth within one’s proximity. Can grow a small forest within an hour or cause fruits to ripen to enormous size. Vino needs sunlight and hydration to use power to full extent, and can’t control plants.
- Xylokinesis: control and manipulate wood structured plants such as trees.
- Poison Generation and/or Miasma Emission as users can manipulate any harmful toxins from the floral kingdom.
- Pheromone Manipulation
• Limitations
- Vino is powerless in areas without plants or at least potential for plants to grow (infertile/barren soil).
- High levels of radiation in a concentrated area may cause defects in the ability.
- Temperature extremes, i.e. heat, cold, and elevations may affect/limit this power.
- Attacks from Fire Manipulation and/or Ice Manipulation can pose an issue.
Can’t Use Yet:
- Rubber Manipulation: control and manipulate rubber, both natural, found in plants, and man-made.
- Plant Mimicry and/or Wood Mimicry
The power to mimic the abilities, traits, and behavior of animals.
-The Superpower Wiki
• Applications
- Vino can use/imitate animal powers. Can run like an ostrich, swing like a monkey, run like a cheetah, move like a cat, take the strength of an ant, track like a dog, hide like a turtle, constriction of a snake, etc. Vino cannot transform into animals, as this power enables Vino to mimic animals while still in their original form.
Some Applications:
- Amphibian Physiology
- Arachnid Physiology
- Avian Physiology
- Centipede Physiology
- Cephalopod Physiology
- Cnidarian Physiology
- Crustacean Physiology
- Fish Physiology
- Insect Physiology
- Mammalian Physiology
- Parasite Physiology
- Reptilian Physiology
• Limitations
- Does not transform into animals.
- Sometimes he takes on traits of the animal he’s impersonating, such as wanting to find rotting things if impersonating a fly, or feeling territorial if impersonating lions.
- Sometimes he can only mimic one animal at a time or is limited on how long he can mimic that animal. It depends on his level on concentration.
The power to transform people and/or objects into other forms.
-The Superpower Wiki
• Applications
- Vino can transform others into different forms. This could mean an inanimate object, another creature, or both.
Some Applications:
- Animal Transformation
- Anthropomorphism
- Chrysopoeia
- Matter Transmutation
- Mutation Inducement
- Petrifaction
• Limitations
- Depending on how much work he puts into it, it may only be temporary.
- The difficulty level depends on what he’s changing. Humans are much more difficult to transfigure than inanimate objects.
- He can’t transfigure himself, but he can transfigure the chemicals he puts into himself.
- Generally has more practice with transfiguring various chemicals into other chemicals, but he’s learning.
- Plants are easiest for him to change as he can combine it with his plant manipulation.

• Overall history | Vino is the poster child for why Pantheon needs to exist, lest gods run wild with powers unchecked. He’s also the black widower of foster families.
Vino never knew his father and his memories of his mother at sketchy at best. When he was three, his mother, Sarah, burned the house down. The only memory he has of her is of a pretty Middle Eastern woman screaming as their house burned down around them. When the authorities tried to explain it to him, all he got out of it was something about a ‘meth lab’ and how his mother was gone now. After that, Vino never cared for the authorities very much.
Vino was sent to live with his aunt, uncle and their son. His aunt, Ina, was a wedding dress tycoon and his uncle, Andrew, was a wealthy stock broker. They weren’t too happy about taking in Ina’s meth addicted sister’s kid and thus tended to treat him unkindly, frequently calling him a bastard and a mistake with a junky mother. Despite dying on him, Vino was fiercely protective of his mother’s memory and never took these insults very well. Over time, he began thinking very bad thoughts about the whole family.
Also over time, these thoughts began to be tangible. When he was about six, he found that he could project these thoughts into the minds of the maids that worked for the family. Depending on he felt about them, one maid would be wracked with some sort of ecstasy, dancing around like a hippie at Woodstock. Whereas other would be cowering in the corner, screaming in terror. A year later after discovering her could make these illusions, Vino decided to try them on his family. It worked like a charm. His uncle ended up throwing himself to the guard dogs, who promptly ripped him to shred. His aunt ended up “pruning” her son and then drowning herself in the pool. Since Vino was only a child, no one suspected him and he was quickly shunted off to his next family.
This one, his other aunt, Alice Hanover, the oldest sister of Vino’s mother’s family and heiress to a hotel chain fortune, and her husband, Anthony Hanover, a CEO for an insurance company, treated Vino in much the same fashion, only this time they distrusted him and never game him an inch. They never hesitated to beat him and constantly berated him as that junky’s bastard. They even set up a fake kidnapping so they didn’t have to deal with the brat. It didn’t work for too long, as Vino caused to kidnappers to jump in the dolphin tank at Sea World where they drowned. Knowing full well who had arranged this kidnapping, Vino planned something extra special for this family.
One night, the family had thrown a little soiree. His aunt had invited her friends and daughters to play bridge with her. His uncle invited some of the boys over to join him in the cigar room. That’s when Vino struck. He induced the women into such a state of wild ecstasy that they ran rampant around the house. His uncle’s friends he struck fear into their hearts, causing them to cry and cower in the corner. His uncle, the only sane one at that point, tried to knock some sense into his wife and daughters. However, Vino caused the women to suddenly be filled with fear over a horrible vision and ended up tearing uncle Anthony apart, limb by limb, and eating him.
The next day, Vino played the perfect shell-shocked child, another victim in a string of senseless murders. Any of the witnesses of the incident had been driven mad by Vino’s illusions. Vino drew state wide notoriety as the only survivor of the Hanover murders.
Vino was lastly shunted off to his uncle Shane, his mother’s little brother. Shane was the only adult Vino had met who treated him with genuine kindness and respect, saying that Sarah was his favorite sister and thus Vino would be treated like his son. Shane, a mogul for a vineyard, began to groom Vino as his eventual successor, to inherit his vineyard and teach him the fine art of wine making. Vino took to it with a prodigy-like vigor.
Shane tended to be a bit of a party-animal. Vino appreciated this in the man. Once, he had gotten too drunk on his own wine and ended up somewhere in the Nevada desert, where he was taken care of by his buddy from high school named Mike. Vino rewarded Mike by granting him whatever he wanted. The man wanted to be able to touch anything and it turn to gold. Vino obliged, though it was just an illusion only Mike could see. Unfortunately, Mike believed it so much that he almost went insane from lack of food (which he believed turned to gold) and fear of touching his daughter (who he was scared would turn to gold). As a result, Vino took the illusion away and Mike went back to normal.
However, Shane wasn’t a very good authority figure and Vino tended to run wild on the streets of LA. He had a penchant not only for wine, but many kinds of booze and, thanks to his illusionary abilities, was able to partake of it freely. While he was never part of the Hollywood Boulevard Paris Hilton types, and in fact took great pride in driving a few of them so crazy that they checked into rehab, he did gain a cult following among the underground scene. He had a kind of posse follow him around, enraptured by his ability to give them ecstasy or madness. They consisted mostly of wild women, dare devils, ex-hippies and vagrants. Whether they were addicted to his essence or to him, he didn’t really care. He threw wild parties where something always was broken or destroyed and pulled wild stunts off of various LA landmarks. He did what he wanted and it was a chaotic time for the city of LA, more so than usual.
Then, Pantheon staff got word of this illusionist from L.A and immediately began trying to track him down. It wasn’t easy, however, as Vino’s ability let him slip easily out of people’s grasps. Eventually, it took the efforts of the Historian and some of the stronger teachers of Pantheon to finally track him down, grab him, hogtie him, and drag him to Pantheon. They had to subdue his ability for a good month of his being there seeing as how he didn’t like school and liked being there much less. When it was revealed to him that he was Dionysus, god of wine and madness, Vino didn’t say much. He was a little outraged when he saw pictures of Dionysus, an androgynous god who wore fruit in his hair, and he thought this was all some stupid joke. However, after further proof, mainly in the form of his abilities and how much his life mirrored Dionysus’, Vino was convinced and begrudgingly agreed to stay at Pantheon.
As a graduate, he met Arianna Naxos. He had no idea at the time, but he was behind to death of her mother, during one of his stints as a violent psychotic child. He’s yet to tell her. He’s also fallen in love with her, but now can’t touch because of his new role as the school drama teacher.
similarities between your character and your deity.
When Dionysus was a fetus, his mother Semele was burned to death by Zeus’ glorious bod. When Vino was a child, his mother was burned to death in an exploding meth lab incident.
Semele was a Near Eastern princess. Vino’s mother, Sarah, was a Middle Eastern woman who's name means "princess."
Dionysus’ first family was made mad and ended up either throwing themselves off a cliff or were torn to shred. Vino’s first family ended up throwing themselves to guard dogs and drowning themselves in a pool.
Dionysus was once kidnapped by pirates, where he made their ship sink and turned them into dolphins. Vino was once kidnapped and made his kidnappers drown themselves in the dolphin tank at Sea World.
One of the most famous Ancient Greek plays, the Bacchae, is about Dionysus exacting revenge against one of his foster families for denying his divine heritage. One of Vino’s most notorious incidents of using his ability was also against one of his foster families for calling his mother a junky. Both ended in the women of the family ripping apart and eating the family patriarch.
Dionysus was eventually brought up by a satyr named Silenus who taught him the art of winemaking. Vino was brought up by his vineyard owning uncle Shane who taught him the art of winemaking, too.
Once, Silenus got too drunk and ended up in the Near East somewhere, where he was taken care of by a Lydian king named Midas. Dionysus was so grateful for Midas being kind to his drunken mentor that he rewarded him with the Midas touch. Midas almost died because of it and Dionysus took the gift away. Same deal with Vino, who rewarded his uncle Shane’s old high school buddy by giving him the illusion that he had the golden touch. Mike also almost died from it and Vino took it away.
Dionysus had an entourage of Maenads (wild women) and Satyrs that followed him about everywhere, being drunk and reveling, causing a religious following called the Dionysian Mysteries. Vino has an entourage of wild women and punks following him around everywhere and had a kind of cult religious following which he just called his friends.
Dionysus’ first ability was to cause madness and ecstasy. Vino’s first ability illusionism, which can cause madness and ecstasy, like LSD.
Dionysus was actually a terrifying god that the Greeks feared, not the stupid fat little Fantasia god from Disney. Vino is rather terrifying in his use of powers, never hesitating to use them.
Dionysus married Ariadne. Vino is in love with Arianna, the Ariadne reincarnate.
Dionysus is the god of Theater. Vino is the drama teacher.
Both are bisexual.
Dionysus and Persephone are very closely entwined in the myths of rebirth and fertility. Though Vino doesn’t know it, his father is Farren’s (Persephone reincarnate) uncle who took advantage of Vino’s mother, a young girl. Same story with Zeus and Semele.
