• Powers Guidelines •• General Guidelines •
Your characters will have superhuman abilities. The special powers come from the Godsoul inside them, and our directly related to their deity. Each character starts off with one power. Choosing your power is a fun and sometimes difficult process. In order to be accepted, your power must be related to the deity you choose. The following links can help immensely:
• The Superpower Wiki | An excellent reference in general for superpowers and a great starting point for brainstorming. You will also be required to include a link to the article on your power in the powers section of your application. • Transcendent Physiology | While characters on PA do not actually possess the Transcendent Physiology ability, this article is incredibly useful for its table of superpowers that correspond to specific divine spheres of influence, such as the powers that a deity of Death might have. This article also contains a masterlist of specific cultural deity physiology powers, the most commonly used of which are listed below. • Greek Deity Physiology | Useful as most applicants seem to favor Hellenistic Deities, contains a list of Greek deities accompanied by powers they traditionally exhibit. • Titan Physiology | Same as above. • Norse Deity Physiology | Same as above.
• The Applications Process •
Once you choose your primary ability and finish your application, the moderators will review it, and let you know whether your ability is acceptable or not. Most often, you will simply need to revise your application until the moderators feel that your character is not overpowered, and that your chosen power is appropriate for your deity.
Occasionally, however, you will be told that the power you've chosen is unacceptable. At PA, we reserve the right to deny any power outright. We also reserve the right to approve some abilities for veteran PA members whose roleplaying skill and discretion we can verify from personal experience.
There are some powers with which you can expect to experience a tough applications process. Please understand that certain powers are either too vague by default, and require precise definition, or have a high capacity for being overpowered and for god-modding, thus your application may need a few rounds of revisions before it is accepted.
• Gaining New Powers •
Your character will start off with one power, and can grow, having a maximum of four. Gaining a new power is simple. You must simply spend a power point and specify the ability that you wish to add in this thread. Once the new power is approved by the moderators, you may revise you character's profile for moderator approval. Once that is also approved, you may post a roleplay in which the new power manifests and begin using it in roleplaying. This new power follows the same rules as your primary power: it has limits, and is not incredibly powerful to start; it must grow as you roleplay.
Gaining a power point is easy. It can be done in either of the following ways:
• Reaching 100 posts with your character. You gain an additional power point for every 100 posts your character makes. • Winning a Monthly Spotlight for excellent Roleplaying.
Characters can only have up to 4 powers. They still accumulate 1 power point per 100 posts, however; and these points can be banked for later use or given to another character or player. Please note that original powers do not count as receivable power points.
