Greek myth has probably been the most famous myth in the world. But in the late 90s, rumor spread, saying that the gods have returned in human forms, bestowing their powers and traits to young adults. As this came up, some people started to report witnessing teenagers having special abilities, such as controlling the weather, calling the dead, and every other impossible things.

An isolated boarding school was built for good, to keep these gifted teenagers from being exposed in the public and also to provide them a safe place to develop and train their powers. Apparently, it seems not only Greek gods have bestowed their powers on these gifted children. Recently it was discovered that other gods from other pantheons were also involved. Thus, the school was later renamed 'Pantheon Academy'.

Are you one of them?

WELCOME TO PANTHEON ACADEMY
MASQUERADE BALL

The prom is on. Within a week, students were given a chance to look for their dresses and suits at the downtown. Yes, this is not a normal prom which is only for the seniors. In this occassion, all students and even staff members of Pantheon are invited. The auditorium was already decorated with many sparkling things, including the newly decorated chandelier that was purchased special for this occassion. It was dominated with the colors gold and red, with some Victorian-style touch. A huge velvet carpet spread across the room, but providing a medium space in the middle of the room as a dance floor. Buffets with various food ranging from pasta to pizza were set in one side of the room.

At one side of the room, there was a medium stage complete with the drumset and next to it was the DJ's place as the upbeat music filled the auditorium. Not only upbeat music but sometimes it gets pretty slow and mellow, only to give couples a chance to have a romantic dance. The room was a bit dim with some colorful lights filling the place and there were doors along the side of the auditorium, leading to the balcony, just in case you want to take break and have a bit chit-chat in a quiet place.

Basically, this place is for you to have fun after the term was over.

NOTES

1. This party takes place in the auditorium and starts at 8.00 pm - 1.00 am.

2. All students and staff are invited.

3. Masks are required. In your first post, please also give the link to your character's mask (you can google and grab the picture, link it to your post) and also your character's costume.

4. This thread is the main thread of the prom. Feel free to join this, but you can also start a new thread to start a conversation set during the prom in this board. Non-prom threads found in this board will be deleted.

5. Short posts are accepted only during this occassion (2 short paragraphs minimum)

6. Have fun!

Aston usually never 'did' dances. They just weren't her thing. Even now, as she dressed, she was beginning to regret her choice to go. She was pulling the hot rollers from her hair, observing her finished make up and the way the jewelry sat ever so elegantly against her skin. She would not deny that her vanity very much liked her appearance, but she was not that excited about the dance.

She finished her hair and, with a sigh, stepped into her heels. After buckling them, she moved to the door that her dress hung on, pulling it down and on in a quick, easy move. Another sigh escaped her lips as she settled it on her body. She did look lovely, but Prom? She had never wanted to go to prom.

She opened her phone for a moment, checking to see if she had a voice mail or text that gave her an excuse not to go. Finding none, she moved towards the door and then down to the auditorium. She stopped outside, waiting in the hall, not wanting to go in just yet.

Mask
Dress

Terra had never been so nervous in her life, at least not until tonight. The sparkling chandelier, the crowds donning elegant suits and dresses, the upbeat music filling the space, all of these things only would make the senior girl's stomach hurl. At least she had prepared enough for this kind of occassion. She bought this nice dark green dress with floral patterns and mask two weeks ago. For Terra, she was lucky enough to get the dress just like she wanted it to be: earthy color and with some floral patterns. And even if she was lucky that day, she got a matching green mask to complete. Apparently one of her friends (who considered her much not as a fashionista) lent her a pair of dark green heels. Terra had never worn heels in her life, well, at least not as this high. It was as if it was six inches. When Terra walked into the huge hall that evening, she began to feel the heels underneath her feet started to ache. However, this would be a big night for her that everything must go smoothly. She didn't want anyone to see her falling because she slipped or did anything ridiculous.

What made her even more nervous was because she considered herself pretty short, not as taller as students gathering the room. Even some freshmen looked much taller than her. She was just one petite girl in the room. But wait a minute, she didn't need to be that nervous. After all, she was quite popular, not as an 'it' girl but at least she had been most-known with her tutoring ability. Everyone knew her as 'that school motherly figure'. Terra bit her lips as she was entering the room, filled with students chatting to each other. Some just stood still, twisting their heads as if they were looking for someone. So far, Terra hadn't seen someone she recognized just yet. Although some freshmen already waved at her. Terra waved back, only to find that she forgot the freshmen's names. But she was certain they knew her because she had been their tutor once.

I'm not ready, just yet, she thought, this time, she decided to play with her curly hair. Nervously, she returned to the entrance of the auditorium, maybe waiting for some of her close friends to arrive. Apparently there was another girl standing in the hall, clicking the phone's keys. "You don't feel like going in?" Terra greeted her, without having any idea who the blonde girl really was.

Anesidora Devavnira lingered outside the auditorium door as she watched bright couples walk eagerly past her. She glanced down at the small cell phone in her hand and read the bright digits; it was 8:05pm. The ball had just started and already students were crowding around and rushing in as if they were ravenous for some form of a night out. With a sigh the blonde slipped the cell phone into her blue purse and gently pushed the handbag’s clasp close. It wasn’t as if Anne didn’t like the idea of a ball, of course every girl secretly enjoyed the thought of some romantic night, but she just didn’t enjoy the whole get up of the night. Everyone seemed to be dressed to the nines; even the staff had gone farther than beyond to decorate the place like a scene out of the Phantom of the Opera or Romeo and Juliet.

Her pale hands slowly smoothed the fabric of her bluish dress. She fought to ignore any lingering stares from the opposite sex due to her dress. Anne had first found it in a little shop with Erin Bedlam, though the top half of the dress had been a somewhat small and of course the bottom half fit perfectly. Still, Anesidora had been willing to discard the dress and find another though that idea had gone down the drain once she had realized there were no other acceptable dresses. So unfortunately and fortunately, the freshman had settled on the blue dress for her first prom. Now she felt even more self conscious as she watched the other girls. Yes, her dress was formal, but it was far from elegant when compared to some of the other dresses. Many of these girls looked as if they had just stepped out from a period piece.

Still, Anne would receive some comfort when Erin arrived; the brunette’s dress was even sleeker than Anne’s. She glanced around again as a great throng of students brushed past her and entered the building. She couldn’t hang out here any longer before looking as if she had been stood up or something. The blonde took a deep breath before gracefully turning and walking past any remaining students and moved through the double doors. Anesidora may have entered the room with her head held high, but her stomach fluttered nervously at the sight of all the students; she had no idea that a prom would have been so popular. Anne felt herself falter slightly at the prospect of entering the mass of kids and quickly sidestepped toward the hallway. She hung back in the shadows and waited until more of her peers passed and started down the stairway before pulling out her mask from her blue purse.

Anesidora slipped on the pale mask, at first feeling a little silly about the feathers, but she relaxed once she remembered no one would know who she was by a glance. Anne would have to talk to the kids in order for them to recognize her voice; immediately Anesidora savored the wave of mischief that flooded over her, tonight would be the perfect night to mess with a select few. Before divulging any further into these thoughts, Anne spotted the familiar form of an older brunette and moved over to her, she was accompanied by a dark blonde girl that Anesidora didn’t recognize. “Hello there.” Anne said to the pair, she was fairly certain that the brunette was Terra, but she didn’t want to make embarrassing assumptions either, so she removed any names from her greeting.

Masquerade! Paper faces on parade. Masquerade!
Hide your face so the world will never find you
Masquerade! Every face a different shade. Masquerade!

Cicada was very, very silly. Most of the time she did it on purpose, but sometimes she was genuinely clueless. It got a bit tiring after a while, but there really wasn’t anything she could do about it. About a week ago, when this alleged ‘masquerade’ was mentioned, Cicada had run around asking people she knew what exactly a masquerade was, and why it was such a big deal. Instead of answering her questions, most people directed her to the movie Phantom of the Opera, saying that everything she needed to know about a masquerade was in there. She had dutifully watched the movie, then come back with a whole new set of questions about group singing and stalkers wearing masks. However, she had gathered that a masquerade was basically a dance, only people wore masks and big poofy dresses. IN other words, nothing Cicada would have much of an interest in.

Not that she didn’t mind dances, though Cicada was firmly convinced that she couldn’t dance. The problem was mostly with the big poofy dresses, with lots of tulle and high heels for her to trip over. However, she was literally being forced to go. She had called home, and casually mentioned to her parents that there was a dance. Her mother, sadly, had overreacted, and assumed Cicada would go. She sent her a bunch of money to go out and buy something nice, and wasn’t it great that there was such a nice event at boarding school? Biting back a groan, Cicada had figured “Eh, what the heck?”

However, if she was going to a dance, she would do it her way. Her dress did have fluff, but it wasn’t too extravagant, and left her quite a lot of room to move. Plus, it was blue. She absolutely refused to wear high heels, instead digging out of her suitcase a pair of shiny blue shoes she had never worn. Once she blew the dust away, they were good as new! Her mask, honestly, was her favorite part: shiny blue, with two huge feathers that poked out behind her ears. Cicada felt rather like an obnoxious peacock, and was perfectly okay with that. Besides, it covered most of her tiny face, so nobody would know it was her.

Thus dressed, she tore out of her dorm, skipping through corridors with the hem of her dress held up and her shoes clutched in one hand. When she was almost at the hall, she slowed down, slipped her shoes on, and, rolling her shoulders back, strolled down the hall like a perfect young lady. Oh please. She reached the hall and skirted inside quickly, sighting The Enemy (as she had come to call Anesidora) right outside the doors. No need for any sort of confrontation, especially seeing as Cicada was rather lacking in the bug department.

Right away, Cicada was entranced by the pretty, sparkling hall. She wandered around, her eyes glued to the chandelier in the ceiling, until she literally ran into a wall. “Oof!” she cried, shaking her head and already giggling. You could dress her up as much as you wanted to, Cicada would never be a normal girl. She turned to lean against the wall, examining the people as they approached. IT was rather disconcerting, with everybody in masks. Who was who? Cicada scratched her head, mussing up her carefully done hair (okay, so she brushed it then tucked it behind her ears. Big deal).

It was time.

Hester had been waiting for this moment from the second she had finished reading her invitation to the Masquerade. The week had slowed to a crawl once she had found her dress and mask. Before that, the time had seemed to speed forward at such a frightening pace that Hester despaired of ever finding what she was looking for. However, once she did in fact find her dream mask and dress, time had done a 180, her remaining days filled with anticipation and excitement as time slowed considerably. By the morning of the ball, Hester had been ready to pull her hair out in frustration.

Now day was finally here, and the dress she had found was perfect. She had put it on thirty minutes before she needed to leave, careful not to muss her hair, a loose up-do made up of tumbling curls, or her makeup. Without the help of another pair of hands, the dress had been impossible to get on, but fortunately, she had been able to ask for help from one of her roommates. The repair work she had needed to do on the dress took only a few minutes and it looked amazing if she did say so herself, and she did. Her dress was quite a bit fuller than Hester remembered, but when she put it on, she felt like a princess, which was the whole point of the dress. Her mask was the last thing for her to put on. It was a small and intricate, all gold and silver, and heavier than she had first thought. As she tied the satin ribbons that would hold the mask to her face, Hester could feel the flutters of nervous excitement in her chest. Hester spent a great deal of her young life wishing for this night, the night where she could be a completely different person, new and exciting. She could set aside her old fears of failure and rejection and just be herself. If she slipped up and made a fool of herself, no one would know.

Despite having told herself many a time that this was a night for relaxation and fun, Hester found herself having trouble following through with that mission. She stood near the entrance to the Auditorium, inside of the glimmering room, but only barely. Her hands were clutched in front of her, her body the very picture of fear an uncertainty. The moment she stepped into the room filled with people who could have just stepped out of a magazine of the world’s most beautiful people, all of the hurtful comments of size and physique that had been thrown at her over the years crashed about her like waves on a beach. In spite of her earlier plans, Hester began to shrink into herself, wanting nothing more than to be back in her room.

Trying desperately to reclaim her previous confidence, Hester crossed the room, heading towards the drink table. It was still early in the night, and she was relatively certain those who would spike the various drinks offered had not done so yet. She claimed a small plastic cup of punch and retreated a couple steps away from the table. She was not backed into a corner, miserable and afraid, she might as have been as Hester felt removed from the gaiety around her. Sipping the juice automatically, Hester adjusted her mask with her other hand. While she no longer felt she could go out and mingle with the other students, she did watch with avid interest as people past, trying to make out a recognizably face in the crowd.

Now, there were some girls who were no doubt living it up this evening. Wearing their most extravagant gowns to attract the boys, and taking advantage of their masks and gaining new courage that they naturally wouldn't have. Others were merely going to go, because the entire population was going. They had no purpose, no real reason for attending. But there were those few, and Chryssa Spes was one of them, that were actually going to see everyone. To socialize and make sure that everyone was all right. Happy.

Now many could be asking themselves why a sophomore girl, a sixteen-year old young woman, was so interested in making sure that her fellow students were okay? To those who knew Chryssa, they knew why. Chryssa was a kind soul, someone who liked giving everyone a sense of cheeriness and joy. She was the reincarnation of a spirit who had given hope to man, so kindness and caring were only a mere standard. Chryssa wasn't here to dance with boys or gain ground in the social hierarchy. She was here to talk amongst her students and give those who needed a boost... well, to give them a boost. That was the simplest way to describe her goal.

Chryssa also hadn't gone shopping for the most elegant dress she could find. In fact, she had merely gone out with a few other girls to buy a dress just a few days ago. She'd grown fond of this one and had chosen to wear it. Which was why she was here now, with a feathery mask strapped to her face. Whether or not others would recognize her was completely up to chance.

Caylis couldn't help but laugh as she put on her gown. It was taken her about an hour to get her hair perfect done then a second to do her Make-up, and all for an occasion that was practically anonymous. It was rather Ironic if one took the precious time to think about it. Then there was the fact that she chose to adorn the dress until after she had done all of that. It really didn't make good sense, but that was how you did it, Hair, Make-up, clothing. It was just how it was..If the world were logical, men would ride side-saddle... The mask was last, had crafted in Italy, and costing about twenty-four euros, it was one of her prize possessions. In Venice, these things were great prices, and came in all shapes, sizes, colors and styles, but this one for some reason had called to her like no other before. See she had quite a few, all were gorgeous in ways that little else material was. Admiring her treasure for a moment before she took in her hands, and tied it's black silk ribbons under her carefully crafted hair. Tonight was to be a night to remember.

Yes, she was in the mood to dance, but when wasn't she? Any music with even the slightest beat she would step to. It mattered not was playing, with the sway of her hips she would be let loose from the restraint of time, and simply be one with the notes that came flowing through the air. It was part of growing up in the islands; if you could talk, you could sing, if you could walk, you could dance. And one of the numerous reasons she loved the ocean, wave after wave, like the divine heart beat of the earth. It was the most Godly music to dance to. But they would not play the Ocean here, but she would dance none the less, nothing would change that.

As she walked into the masquerade, a sly smile adorned her face and she made her way gracefully into the room. Her blue heals made a soft, almost inaudible tap, as she began to explore the wonderland. It was quite a sight, ever male and female looked like characters directly out of the phantom of the opera, mystical beings meant to entice anyone with an imagination. It was truly incredible to behold. Without a thought going through her mind, her hips began to sway to the beat of the loud music. She had not even made it to the dance floor before it began to consume her. She didn't dance with people usually, but rather in their presence. To her they were simply spectators to her expression of undeniable freedom. Not even consciously realizing it, she spun passed those who were slowing making their way on to the floor and into the mass of beings. Maybe she would find a man who enjoyed it as much as she, and share the pleasure for dancing with him.

Skylar had not really worried about the up coming Masquerade Ball like the girls in the school had. He had just made a trip into town to his town manor after a failed trip to a shopping center. He had went met up with a few people and then decided to his manor. He knew that he had closets full of the most advanced designer cloths plus the ability to fly in the best designers in the world in a moments notice. Hayden was the only person in the school that could steal a designer from underneath him and he knew that Hayden wouldn't for he really did not care about his cloths all that much.

So Skylar got dress about a half an hour from the start of the Masquerade. He got dressed in a pure white zuit suit coat. A pure white tie and white vest. Not to mention a white round hat with a white sash around the middle. He also put on a black mask the accent the pure whiteness of his clothing.

Soon after he was dressed he left his cabin and walked slowly toward the masquerade ball. He knew that it was time to arrive at the auditorium. He normally would have just drove some fancy car but he also knew that if he used to much of his power or money for this ball he won't be able to hide behind his masquerade. Everyone would recognize his signiture power of molecular manipulation. Normally he did not mind the spotlight but what was the point of a masquerade if as soon as you get there people know who you are. The mystery was supposed to be one of the fun parts of the ball.

He walked up to the doors and showed them his invintation to the ball. Once he entered the main part of the auditorium he saw many people dancing and having a good time. He saw the a few girls over in a corner talking and having a good time. He saw one girl in a beautiful dark red dress. (Emilee Byron) He walked up to her and stuck out his hand in a gentlemanly fashion.

He spoke in a calm voice as he flashed her a charming smile. My lady, may I request this dance.

While it seemed to Terra that the dark blonde girl was still busy with her phone, the senior looked away, wishing to go back inside but in the other hand, she was still nervous. She still hadn't found someone she recognized, or at least someone to talk to. Terra sure did meet some freshmen and sophomores waving at her direction, but apparently Terra didn't really remember who their names were. So she awkwardly just waved back without even calling their names. The brunette leaned restlessly against the wall in the entrance of the auditorium as she was about to put off her mask. Maybe she shouldn't have gone to this occassion in the first place. No one would really recognize her anyway, other than her students. In the other hand, Terra had spent a lot of money to purchase this lovely flowery dress, which was very rare to find as well.

"Hello there." Just before Terra could put off her mask, she heard someone greeting her. Nervously, Terra turned around to find a blonde masked young woman standing near her. Of course, Terra remembered her. She was the girl she once met in Sphinx Building, when Terra was disturbed by naughty freshmen practicing their telekinesis power. "Oh hello...umm...Anesidora, yes?" she asked with her English accent. "I thought someone wouldn't recognize me here with this mask. But I'm glad you do. It's lovely to see you here."

Prom was the time when everyone dressed in their most extravagant finery and tried their hardest to impress other people. Prom was a time where everyone's deepest desires were on display. It was a time of lies, and whispers, and sweet nothings. All of which were things Sia was expert at.

She had spent the entire day getting ready. Her room was a mess of organized chaos. She had awaken early, and started with her hair, and a make-up. Yes, as surprising at it was, Ambrosia had done her own hair and make-up. She hadn't trusted anyone else with her the details of what she wanted for her Senior prom. This was the last one she was going to have on her own. Her last prom. Her last masquerade. Her last....absolute last. Well, she was going to have a fun little night, and she was going to party. She had spent the entire day, from waking moment to this very second getting ready for this.

Her hair was placed in a very elegant up-do for the occasion. Strands of hair were falling out everywhere, giving it the sexy mussed look. The strands that were falling were curled, and made her look angelic. Her make-up was light. Simple golden eye-shadow, thin eye-liner, and a light blush. Her lips shone with a light lip-gloss. Her mask covered her eyes, for the most part anyway.

Her gown was ornate beading, obviously done by hand, was what first caught her eye. It was strapless, with a beautiful neckline, and it appeared that the dress was made to hug the body until it reach the knees, where those beautifully gathered pick-ups were. The skirt it's self trailed out, stopping (in the front) as soon as it touch the ground, but the back of the skirt was train. Absolutely beautiful train, too. It made her look beyond beautiful. For any who hadn't seen her buy it, it would be hard to recognize her.

She had slipped on some simple champagne colored shoes. And then, she had stepped out of her dorm, after her dorm-mates had left, and found herself on her way to the auditorium. Tonight was about passion. About fun. About him. If Sia could even find him, that was....She hoped to god that she could. If not, well, she'd still have fun. Just not the kind of fun she had hoped.

As she made her way through the doors to the auditorium, she smiled to herself, and looked around at all the people in masks and gowns, and tuxedos. The richness of it all made her head spin and swirl. It was a gorgeous and the music playing was soft, and sweet. Sia felt right at home already. If only she could find someone to speak with, or to dance with, in the mean time.

Ichimo took his tuxedo out of a bag that had been placed in his room. A simple black tuxedo with a white shirt and white mask. He cared not for the most expensive or the cheapest. He found that prom deserved not a touch of his skill. He shined his shoes and polished his buttons before getting in the shower. A quick shower, a fast dry off and a chance to do his hair. He was out of the door in a little over two hours. Before he left he slipped a single rose in his jacket and a small ten inch chefs knife made of japanese steel. He was never without a knife and made sure he had one on him. He grabbed his invitation and walked out the door headed for where the prom was held.

Ichimo smiled as he walked up to the front door. He held up his invitation as he walked inside. He noticed a few people he had see naround school. As well as the so called king of women Skylar. He would have to have a chat with this one later. He had a interesting proposal for him and wanted to talk to him in public.

He had gone alone because he had yet to really meet anyone. He listened to the Dj for a second noticing the dance floor was quite bouncy or so to say. He looked over the food at the buffet and smiled. It was quite a spread. Most finger foods to be enjoyed in a fast manner. Soon he felt stuffy, his head spinning from the amount of people. He walked out onto the balcony and watched the stars for a few minutes.

Walking back inside he took notice of Skylar asking someone to dance. He would be able to get closer if he managed to get out onto the dance floor. He saw a young lady in a blue dress standing against the wall.(Cicada Anevay) He walked over to her and smiled pulling out the rose and offering her the velvet crimson flower. "Excuse me miss. My name is Ichimo Ichida Innes. Would you like to dance with me on this lovely evening."

Time. It was something that always seemed to be against Raina. She was almost always late for everything, not that she minded too much of course; she loved making an entrance. Being fashionably late to an event was the done thing, as it forced all eyes to turn to her, which was of course, what she wanted. She loved being the center of attention and having everyone turn to look at her as she walked in a room. However, she never tried to be late, she just couldn’t help it. This was why Raina started getting ready for the Masquerade Prom almost three hours before any of her room mates. Being superficial and vain had its drawbacks, and one of them was that she took a lot longer to get ready for events like this, than anyone else. She had to look her best, of course. There was no way that she would turn up at the Prom looking halfway decent, no, Raina had to look her absolute best; even if they would be wearing masks all night.

The thing was, that Raina knew that even with the mask, people would recognise her. No-one else had her bright blue eyes, combined with dark hair and extremely good fashion sense, so she had to look perfect, as usual. She started getting ready with a nice long shower, followed by a trip to the nail salon for a mani-pedi (even though her gown was so long that it would cover her feet). Her next stop was the hairdressers, so that they could tease her hair into a soft, elegant up-do, before she arrived back at her dorm to sort out her make-up. Since her dress was of a champagne colour and all her accessories were gold, she was going to keep her make-up light; a shimmer of gold on her eyelids; a sweep of bronzer on her cheekbones and some nude coloured lipstick, with a hint of gold. She played up her eyes a little more, even though they would be hard to see through the eyelets of the mask, by adding a flick of liquid liner and lashings of mascara.

Once her make-up was finally perfect in her opinion, she added the silk flower pin to her hair, and walked over to her wardrobe, where her new dress was hanging up. Now this was no ordinary dress. Raina didn’t want some plain, run of the mill dress, bought from the shopping center down the road – or even from Seattle, which was a little better – she wanted something expensive, designer and stunning; something which would make all heads turn and stare. She found “the perfect dress” about a week ago. It was a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown, purchased from net-a-porter (thank God for online shopping!) and probably cost more than everyone else’s combined. It was so expensive, that it even caused concern for her father, who rang her up the following day and told her that the credit card company had just called and asked whether his daughter’s credit card had been stolen. When she told him that no, it was indeed her that had just spent over $9000 on a dress, he went silent for a long time and she had to ask him three times if he was still there before he answered. She told him that it was for her prom and that she was so excited and that the dress she bought was perfect, albeit a little expensive.

After some gentle persuasion, her father finally relented and told her that she could keep the dress, but she could expect her birthday present to be a lot less expensive than it usually was. She was slightly disappointed at this, but knew that she would be able to get round him somehow; she always had been able to. Stepping into her dress, Raina felt like the Goddess she was as she twirled and spun in front of the full length mirror, admiring how stunning it looked on her. Glancing at the bedside clock, she realised that she was running late, regardless of her head-start on getting ready, so she quickly added her gold jewellery and shoes and attached her mask, before sorting out what she needed to take in her little beaded bag. Then with a spritz of perfume and a final appraising look in the mirror, she deemed herself perfect and walked smugly from the room. Raina didn’t have a date, but that didn’t really matter as she would certainly find someone there, especially the way she looked tonight. As she stepped into the auditorium, she could see many people were already there and she scanned the room, looking at all the dresses with admiration or distaste, depending on the style. She would have to make sure to find out who was wearing the best dresses and who the worst, so she could add a best and worst dressed list to her next blog.

Aston was off in her own world as she checked her phone before she realized that another girl had been talking to her. However, when she lifted her eyes, the girl had turned to speak to someone else. She closed her phone and slipped it down the bosom of her dress where it settled without a flaw. Thank god that slim phones had been invented.

She shifted the front of her dress, until someone spoke to her. She lifted her eyes to see a boy standing in front of her, quite apparently very attractive. There wasn't much his mask could do to hide that. His hand was held out and he offered her a dance. She was surprised, but not unpleasantly so. She was so used to being seen as the girl with an anger issue and a sharp tongue, but here, she was someone new. She forced a small smile onto her face. "Of course" she replied.

Her own petite pianist's hand came out and took his, so much smaller and hesitant against his. And she waited for him to lead her onto the floor

Cicada, for once, was not bored. It was hard to be bored, to tell you the truth, even for the hyperactive, short-attention span of the girl. The room was so…shiny. It was pretty and sparkling, and everybody was dressed in bright colors. She still leaned against the wall, her hands in the small of her back and her eyes wide. She could even forget that she was wearing a big poofy dress, and could forget it until she had to move. As she often did when standing still, she had slipped out of her sandals, standing only on the last half of them and wiggling her toes.

When the boy came to ask her to dance, at first she only blinked. This did not go with her plan for the night; she was going to eat and prance around the edge like an idiot, then go to sleep at ten so she wouldn’t stay up past her bedtime. Okay, so that was a little bit overdramatic. But honestly, she didn’t expect anybody to ask her dance. She was often too…well, weird to ask to dance. Oh well, that was the thing about wearing a mask: nobody knew she was the crazy bug girl.

He introduced himself Ichimo, and offered her a rose. She put a hand to her mouth for a moment to keep herself from giggling. After all, he was very polite about it, which was only funny if you considered the fact that Cicada had no manners. She restrained herself, only smiling and taking the rose. “Sure. I’m Cicada. Cicada Anevay,” she said, introducing herself. She pushed herself off the wall, tripping almost immediately over her shoes, which were only half slipped on. “Bugger,” she muttered to herself. Instinctively, she steadied herself against Ichimo’s arm, using her other hand to pull her shoe up. “Sorry about that,” she said ruefully, though still grinning.
